It's A Smorgasbord

We played outside right when we got to school.  Some of the new toys from the Art Show Fundraiser are already here.  We played with the water pump and the ramps.  We will really use them next year, that's for sure.

"HICCUPotamus" was the name of our story.  It was all about a hippopatomus who had the hiccups.  He caused a lot of problems, so his friends tried to help him get rid of those hiccups.  What happened at the end is hilarious.

We had quite a lot of snack today.  It was a Smorgasbord.  Lucie brought marshmallows, penguin crackers and yummy strawberries.  Thank you, Lucie.  Ryan brought muffins for his birthday treat.  Thank you, Ryan.  We sure had a feast today.

New Toys in the Outdoor Classroom

We didn't go right outside when we got here this morning.  That's because the Kindergarten Readiness kids were outside.  We stayed in for a while and played Duck, Duck, Goose, Tangrams and links.  We linked all of the colorful links together and tried to stretch them as far as we could go.  There were a lot of them.

Our story was "Just Grandma and Me".  It is a Little Critter book and he goes to the beach with his Grandma.  Poor Little Critter.  He tries so hard, but he always seems to do things wrong.

Today was Birthday Day for the summer birthday kids.  We had ice cream!  Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Myers even had chocolate syrup and sprinkles for us if we wanted them.  Yummy!

At the Art Table we colored  However, it was a different way to color.  Mrs. Myers had put 4 different crayons together with a rubber band.  We used all 4 crayons at once!  It was hard, but fun.

Do you remember the Art Show?  Do you remember the money that we were raising for new toys in the outdoor classroom?  Well, Mrs. Christiansen already ordered some of those toys.  Guess what?  We got to play with them today.

There was a very cool water pump.  It is hard to work, but we sure had fun trying to use our muscles.  Then there were the wooden ramps and balls.  That stuff looks like a giant marble ramp.  There are lots of different pieces so that you can use your imagination to put it together any way you want.  Then you can take the big wooden balls and roll them down the ramps.  So cool.  Thank you everyone for donating at the Art Show so that we can have these awesome toys.

It's Almost the End

We just cannot believe that preschool is already almost over.  We will miss our friends here.  Luckily, most of us will be back next year for Preschool Readiness.

We went outside right away today.  Of course, first we hung up our things and washed our hands.  When we got outside it was still a little too cool for the water table, but we did play in the sand.  We also played monster all by ourselves.  Usually we ask a teacher to help, but today we did it all.  They are working on the road in front of the preschool so we are starting to see lots of cool trucks drive by our outdoor classroom.  Today we saw a dump truck.

Our story was called, "Just Grandma and Me".  It is a  Little Critter book.  In it he goes to the beach with his Grandma.  He tries very hard to help do all sorts of things, but they usually don't work out very well.

We had our Summer Birthdays Day today.  For snack we got to have ice cream.  We could even have chocolate syrup and sprinkles if we wanted them.  Yippee.

Today at the Art Table we had crayons that were rubber-banded together.  We got to draw with all of them at the same time.  And, they were all different colors.

We Think That Spring is Finally Here

This week has been wonderful.  We have been able to go outside to play everyday.  Yippee.  Today we really enjoyed the sand and water tables.  We have fun collecting things like pine cones, also.

Our story was called, "Froggy Plays Soccer".  In this book, Froggy has to learn how to play soccer.  The most important rule is not to use your hands.  Does Froggy remember the rule?

We had a yummy snack of carrots, Ranch dip and goldfish from Evie.  Thank you, Evie.  On Thursday, Kadence brought strawberries and vanilla wafers.  Thank you, Kadence.  Then we went over to the Art Table and we learned how to use the tap glue.  The tap glue has a special lid and you just tap it on the paper; tap, tap, tap.  We each had some paper and we could cut some pieces or use some shapes that were already there.  Then we would tap, tap, tap the glue and glue those things onto our paper.  We like using the tap glue.

We Are Growing Up

Today was a nice day so we went outside right away when we got to preschool.  We played in our outdoor classroom.  We are very lucky to have this space to play.

Our story today was called, "Job Site".  It was all about the things that you see and the work that is done on a construction site.  There were very big machines that did lots of heavy work.  The boss would tell the people what to do and they would do it.  Finally, the job was all finished.  What did they build?

Today we had a very special snack.  Of course, it was Birthday Day, so that means that we got to help.  Our teachers thought that we should practice for next year when we are in the Kindergarten Readiness Class.  There was juice and water in little pitchers and there were big bowls of snack on each table.  We got to pour our own juice and water.  Then we got to serve ourselves one big spoonful of snack (a trail mix) on our napkin.  After everyone had a turn, if we were done with our snack we could have another helping.  It was fun to practice for next year.

At the Art Table, we painted with paintbrushes on paper.  We just love to paint.  We made really pretty pictures.  Of course, they were wet so we couldn't bring them home yet.

We would like to thank Reese's mommy for coming to help our class today.  Thank you.  You were a lot of fun.

Happy May Day!

It's the first day of May!  Happy May Day everyone.  Today we celebrated by going around the Maypole.  Mrs. Whiteman brought in a tall pole with colorful streamers all over the top of it.  We each got to hold one.  Then we ran around the Maypole while we were holding our streamers.  They wrapped right around.  Then, we ran back the other way to unwrap it.  Can we do it again?

Our story was called, "A Porcupine Named Fluffy".  When Fluffy was born his parents couldn't decide what to call him.  Finally they thought about the name Fluffy.  When Fluffy got a little older he started to believe that maybe he wasn't so fluffy.  He stuck into things and poked holes in things.  Fluffy decided to make himself fluffier.  I wonder if it worked?

Our snack was from Leah.  It was yummy yogurt in little cups.  Thank you, Leah.  Our Thursday snack was from Riley.  We had grapes, apples and cheese sticks.  Thank you, Riley.

For our Art Project today, we made monsters.  Mrs. Whiteman brought in some red play dough that she had made and we got to shape it into our own special monster.  Then we added things like eyes and colored macaroni.  We sure had some scary monsters.

We cleaned all of the toys up a little early today so that we could play outside.  It was so beautiful out!  We ran around and played with the trucks.  Did you know that we have a sand table and a water table in our outdoor classroom?  Well, we do.  This was our first time playing with the water table and boy did we like that!  Unfortunately, on Thursday, it got cold and rainy so we didn't have a chance to go outside.  We really wanted to, but this silly weather got us.

Hurry, Hurry, Comes the Firetruck

It was our turn to have the firemen come for a visit today.  They brought their greenish yellow truck.  We got to look inside and see where everybody sits and we saw all of their equipment.  Because it was so nice outside, we got to stay out the whole time that they were talking to us.  They told us all about being safe and not to be afraid of the firemen because they are there to help us.  We also learned about doing a fire drill.  We should have them at school and at home.  Do you have a place for your family to meet?  At the very end of their visit they showed us the lights on their truck and let us hear the sirens.  Whoa.  The firemen left us a little present.  We each got a badge sticker and a fireman's hat.  It was a little windy outside, so we had to hold onto our hats.

Our story was about a little dog named Biscuit.  He is small and yellow.  When it is time for bed, Biscuit is just like us; he doesn't want to go!  He wants to play and he wants a snack and he wants a drink.  He wants a lot of things before he goes to bed!

Our snack was grapes and some special graham cracker sandwiches.  Thank you, Ryan.  On Tuesday, we had animal crackers and bananas from Parker.  Thank you, Parker.  Right after we were finished with snack we went to the easel for our art project.  We have never used the easel before.  On each side was a big piece of clear, sticky paper called ConTac paper.  We had lots and lots of strips of another special paper called tissue paper.  Those pieces were all different colors.  We took the strips and tore small pieces off and stuck them on the ConTac paper.  That tissue stayed wherever we put it.  It makes a very pretty and colorful wall hanging.  Our teachers will hang them up for everyone to see.

Dirty, Dirt, Dirt, Dirt

See you at the Art Show on Thursday!

We love dirt.  That's because we're kids.  Today we played in some dirt.  Mrs. Whiteman had a great big tub of it and we used cups and spoons to dig.  Guess what?  There were things hidden in that dirt.

Mrs. Myers had the nerf balls out and we used our feet and hands to play with them.  We threw them and we kicked them and just had a good time.  We also had our special crayons and we used those to color flower pictures.

Today our story was called, "Dirt Boy".  The boy in the story was named Fister Farnello and he loved to get dirty.  He had a mean and clean mother who made him take a bath.  There was only one problem.  Fister ran off after his dirty, dusty clothes were on the floor.  He climbed a soft hill and fell asleep.  He discovered the next morning that he had been sleeping in the belly button of a giant named Dirt Man.  Dirt Man hadn't had a bath in a thousand years.  The two instantly became friends.  I wonder what they did?

Our snack was from Jordyn.  She brought us Rice Krispie Treats and muffins.  Yummy.  Thank you, Jordyn.  Thursday's snack was from Carter.  We had cheese sticks and seedless watermelon.  Wowee!  Thank you, Carter.

At the Art Table we painted.  But we didn't use paintbrushes.  Nope.  We used Q-tips.  Mrs. Myers squirted some paint onto our paper plates and we use the Q-tips to paint on our paper.  Who knew that Q-tips could do that?  On Thursday, after we were all finished with our art, we got to go outside and play.  Thank goodness it is finally getting warmer.  We were very excited.

What Is That Big Noise?

Parents:  Don't forget about the Art Show on Thursday, April 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  We hope to see you there.

Today was a very special day here at preschool.  It was so special that we had to do our day differently.  Instead of playing for the first part, we did our Circle Time things.  We did our attendance, we sang our songs and we had our story.

Our story was called, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game".  It was just the same as the song.  Have you heard that song?  We heard it today.  Some of us have been to a baseball game.

The reason that we had a mixed up day was ... the firemen came!  We had three firemen visit preschool and they brought their truck!  It wasn't a red truck, it was a yellowish green truck.  We got to see where they keep every thing and where they sit.  Then the firemen came in and talked to us.  They told us not to be afraid of them when they have on all of their special equipment.

They also told us that we need to have a plan at school and at home.  We had just practiced our fire drill here at school, but the firemen said that we should also practice one at home and have a meeting place for the family.

At the very end of their visit, the firemen climbed into the truck and showed us how all of the lights worked.  Then they let the siren go and gave us a funny honk.  We laughed at that.

Snack was from Hudson.  He brought us cheese sticks and crackers.  Thank you, Hudson.  Right after we finished eating we played with the Magic Nuudles.  We dipped them into water and then they stuck to a paper plate.  We could even build towers of Nuudles with them.

Outside Is Good

Parents:  Don't forget that the Art Show is this Thursday, April, 25th from 5:30-6:30 p.m.  We hope to see you there!

We got to go outside!  Hip hip hooray!

The very first thing that we did when we got to preschool today was go outside to the outdoor classroom.  We have been waiting for so long to get out there.  Finally, it was warm enough.  We had so much fun in the bright sunshine.  We gathered pine tree branches from the ground and made them into a big circle.  We played in the sand and it was perfect; just wet enough to make sand castles.  We made a house and we ran around.  Yippee.

Our story today was called, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game".  It is the same story as the song.  Have you ever sung that song before?  We did today.  Some of us have been to baseball games before.

Today for snack we had cheese crackers and strawberries.  Yum.  We are happy that it is strawberry time.  Thank you, Reese.  Right after that we got to play in all of the centers.  Mrs. Whiteman let us get out the marbles so that we could play with the connecting tubes.  We like sending the marbles down those tubes.

Our art was super cool.  We each got a paper plate, a little container of water and some Magic Nuudles.  Boy, are they magic.  You can dip them into the water and they will stick to the paper plates.  You can stack them that way.  If you leave them in the water for too long, then they kind of get really goopy and then poof! they disappear.  Wait until you see what we made.

Yes Day!

We did some activities today that related to our cool story.  We practiced using our scissors and cut up strips of colored paper.  We also got to do Play Doh.  We had all of the tools and the rolling pins and everything.  Play Doh is cool.

We also played the great game, Jump the River.  Only this time because of the story we did everything backwards!  We walked backwards, we ran backwards and we jumped backwards.

Our story was called, "Yes Day".  Yes Day is a little boy's favorite day ever because on that day, his parents tell him yes to everything.
"Can I have pizza for breakfast?"  "Yes."
"Can I pick the groceries?"  "Yes."
"Can we have a food fight?"  "Yes."
"Can I stay up late?"  "Yes."
We loved this story.

Our snack today was cheese sticks and graham crackers.  They were from Mason, but he was out sick.  Thank you for still bringing in our snack, Mason.  On Thursday we had graham cracker bites!  Thank you, Gavin.

Since it was kind of a backwards day because of our story, we did something very silly for art.  Mrs. Myers had a big piece of paper taped to the underneath side of the Art Table.  We went down on the floor and drew on the paper while we were on our backs.  How great is that?

Monday, April 15, 2013

We had sunshine.  Yeah.  It was too wet to go outside, but it sure was great to see the sun.  Yahoo.

Our activities today were really fun.  We did a lot of things that related to our story, "Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm".  Mrs. Wishy-Washy always kept things neat, including the animals.  She would give the cow and the pig and the duck a bath and clean them up.  They did not like the baths so they ran away.  Then they discovered that maybe home wasn't such a bad place after all.

Well, since Mrs. Wishy-Washy liked to clean, that's what we did.  We cleaned the stepping stones with water and cloths.  We wiped them up so that they looked very shiny.  Then Mrs. Meyers had a big tablecloth and lots of newspaper trash.  We crumpled the newspaper into balls and put it on the tablecloth.  Then we all grabbed the tablecloth and made it go up and down until all of the newspaper balls fell to the floor.  Then we did it all over again.  We also had great big pieces of cardboard that we painted with water.  It is always easier to clean up at school than at home.  I wonder why?

Today we did not have a snack leader.  It was Birthday Day.  The teachers gave us cut up pieces of pineapple, watermelon and strawberries.  We each got a cool stick.  We put all of our fruit on the stick and we called it a fruit kabob.  Yum.  We liked it a lot.  Of course, it was also the day the we sang the "Happy Birthday Song" to our friends with birthdays this month.  After they blew out the candles, we each got a brownie.  Double yum!

There were new toys in the Block Center!  They are all wooden toys.  There is an airplane, a bus, a subway train and a very neat stable with some horses.  In fact, there are even more new toys, but we can't remember them all.

We Apologize for the Interruption

It has been a very interesting week here at Preschool.  We had school cancelled on one day and then we were not able to blog until today.  We will try and catch up and let you know all of the cool things that we have been doing this past week.

On Monday we gathered in the Circle Time Room like we normally do.  Mrs. Whiteman had some Q-Tips and some baskets with holes in them which she turned upside down.  We practiced poking the Q-Tips through the holes.  It was fun to do that.  Later we blew streamers of crepe paper around.  Mrs. Whiteman had a fan and we were able to see that the fan created wind and blew our streamers all over.  There was also a really fun obstacle course and some great coloring pages that we could color in with our special crayons.

Our story today was called "Like a Windy Day".  A little girl wants to play like a windy day.  She wants to make the leaves come off of the trees and snatch peoples hats off of their heads.  She wants to play like a windy day and do all of the things that the wind would do.  We thought maybe that would be a fun way to play.

Logan brought our snack today and it was one of our favorites:  crackers and cheese.  Thank you, Logan.  Right after we were finished with our snack, we went to play and to do our art.  Mrs. Myers had some coffee filters for us.  We got to color on them with Magic Markers and then we did something kind of strange.  We sprayed water onto the colored coffee filters.  Do you know what happened?  The colors melted!  Yup.  They did.  They melted into each other all over the coffee filters.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we played with the race cars and tracks in the Circle Time Room.  We just love those.  We also did a different obstacle course!  Those are really fun and we love to run and jump when we go through the course.

Our story today was called "Alphabet Under Construction".  It was all about a little mouse who was building the alphabet.  Each letter had something being done to it that started with the letter.  For example, he was folding the F.  The pictures in this book were really neat.

Our snack today was cheese sticks and graham crackers from Maddie.  Yum.  We sure do like those cheese sticks.  On Thursday we had two snack helpers since we didn't have school on TuesdayEvelyn brought carrots and Luca brought bunny snack mix and oranges.  Thank you, everyone for the wonderful snacks.

We made a big mural with roller painters, paint and cars.  What?  We had different shapes on the rollers and then we ran the little cars' wheels into the paint and rolled the cars around and around the paper.  Whee.  Our teachers will put our murals up on the wall.

Hello, Sergeant Nelson

We had a very special visitor at preschool today.  His name was Sergeant Jeff Nelson and he is a police officer with the Bettendorf Police Department.  He came and talked to us today.  He told us all about staying safe.  We learned about 9-1-1 and that police officers are here to help us and we should not be afraid of them.  This is good information for us to know.  He gave us a coloring book, a pencil, a Junior Officer Badge and an Officer Trading Card that had his picture on it.  This was so cool we could hardly stand it.

Our story today was called, "Little Pink Pup".  This book had real photographs in it and it was all about a tiny little pig name Pink.  Pink was too tiny to stay with his mommy so his owners brought him into the house.  There was a brand new dachshund mom name Tink in the house.  She took care of Pink like he was her very own.  He was pink and her other puppies were brown, but Tink didn't care.  Pink grew healthy and strong with his new family!

Our snack today was from Lucy S.  We had bananas and granola bars.  Thank you, Lucy.  Our snack for Thursday was Goldfish and raisins.  Thank you, Olivia.  We had a special Art project that used paint and a hair dryer.  What?  That's right.  We squirted different colors of paint on some finger paint paper and then we held a hair dryer on the paint.  Do you know what happened?  The paint blew all over the paper and it made skinny lines of color.  It looked really neat.

Spring Break is Over

We're back!  Our Spring Break is all over and we are at school again.  We are happy to see all of our Preschool friends.  Now if the weather would just warm up we would be even happier!

Today we played a game with Mrs. Myers.  There were plastic colored squares all in a circle.  We walked around the circle and when Mrs. Myers called out stop, we stood on a square.  Then someone was chosen to turn theirs over and on it was an action prompt like "Do the crab walk" or "Run".  Then we all did that and started over again.

Mrs. Whiteman had some looms at a table.  She showed us how to weave fabric strips in and out of the loom.  It was a little hard at first, but then we got it.  We made the fabric look very cool.

Our story today was called "Wake Up, It's Spring!"  After a long, cold winter the sun came out and began to warm the earth saying, "Wake up, it's Spring!"  Then the warmed earth woke up the earthworm by saying, "Wake up, it's Spring!".  The earthworm woke up a seed by saying, "Wake up, it's Spring!"  There were more and more things that needed to be awake.  Who woke up at the very end of our story?

Our snack today was from Robert and he brought granola bars.  Thank you, Robert.  On Tuesday our snack was fish crackers from Maxwell.  Thank you, Max.  We also want to say thank you to Carter's mommy.  She stayed and played with us today.

We got to use the paint daubers for Art.  We could pick our own color of paper and whichever daubers we wanted to use.  Then we just stamped those paint daubers all over the place on the paper.  Our teachers are going to hang our pictures up in the hallway.  Yay!

It's the First Day of Spring!

Today was the first day of Spring.  It sure wasn't a spring-like day though.  It was so cold that we could not have our Easter Egg Hunt outside.  Oh well.  It will warm up soon now that Spring is here.

We had a great day today.  We played with the clothespins and Popsicle sticks and then we did puzzles, some coloring sheets with special crayons and one of our favorite games; Duck, Duck, Goose.

We had a special story that was a book on a CD.  Mrs. Whiteman put it into our CD player and it read the story for us.  All Mrs. Whiteman had to do was turn the pages on the book.  That was kind of neat.  Our story was called, "Here Comes T. Rex Cottontail".  Poor Peter Cottontail (the Easter Bunny) had a cold, so T. Rex and his friends tried to help him out.  T. Rex is not very good at hopping and he breaks all of the Easter Bunny's eggs.  But, they find more and deliver them to the children.  What funny thing happens to the eggs at the very end?

After our story was over we went to the Play Room to play for a while.  Then we washed our hands and got ready for our Spring Party.  We had cute tablecloths and funny napkins with chicks on them.  At each place was a yummy cookie with frosting and sprinkles.  We really liked that.  Then it was time for our party games.

We had a Bunny Ring Toss game.  We had to try and toss the ring over the bunny on the floor.  It was hard, but we had fun trying to do it.  There was also a parachute and balloons.  We put the balloons on top of the parachute and then the adults helped us make the parachute go up and down.  The balloons bounced and bounced until they all bounced off and we had to start all over again.

We also had tattoos.  That was very cool.  We each got some put on our arms.  After all of our games were over we went back into the Play Room for our Easter Egg Hunt.  We each had our very own Easter Basket and we looked all over our room for the eggs.  There were purple, pink, green and blue ones.  We could find one of each color.  I wonder if there was anything inside those eggs?

Spinning

We couldn't believe what we saw outside.  It was snowing when we came to school.  It snowed the whole time we were there.  Even the grass started to get snow stuck to it.  When is Spring going to be here?

Besides the clothespins and fun Popsicle sticks, we had a few other things to play with today.  Mrs. Myers had a color game for us.  There were mats of different colors on the floor.  Mrs. Myers played some music and we all walked around the mats.  When the music stopped, we looked to see what color we were standing on and then we told Mrs. Myers.

We also had the Tangrams at the tables.  Those are little wooden shapes like triangles, squares, and diamonds.  They are fun to use to make patterns or to make funny shaped things.

Mrs. Whiteman had a great big piece of cardboard for us.  We took some paintbrushes and water and we got to paint on the cardboard.  That was fun.

Our story today was called, "I Ain't Gonna Paint No More!"  Oh my goodness, it was hilarious.  A little boy makes a mess with his paints and his mom hollers at him and tells him, "You ain't gonna paint no more."  He finds his paints and sings a song while he paints all of the different parts of his body.  This was a very colorful story and it rhymed.  You should hear the ending.

Our snack was skinny stick pretzels and granola bars.  Yum.  Thank you, Wyatt.  Our Tuesday snack was carrots.  We like carrots and they are good for us.  Thank you, Julian.  Right after that we got to play and do our art.  Oh my.  We had something very special at the Art Table.  Mrs. Myers had a special spinning machine.  She put a circle of white paper on its turntable  and when you turned it on, the paper went around and around.  While the paper was spinning, we got to dribble some paint onto it.  Whoa.  You should see how cool the paper looked when we stopped the machine.  There were mixed colors and fun lines.  We all had to watch it was so neat.

We want to thank Aidan's sister for coming to help with our class today.  Thank you!  Also, on Tuesday, Mrs. Myers daughter came and helped.  Thank you!

On to the Library

We had a field trip today! We went to the library. We met Miss Tami and she took us on a tour. She showed us the children's section and we even got to go to the back and watch the books come down something called a 'conveyor belt'. They divided up and went into separate places. Cool. We learned how to check out a book from the library. That means that you can borrow the book for a while. Then when you bring it back you 'check in' the book. We also got to listen to a story that Miss Tami read. When she was all finished, we had some time to read with our grown ups. We think that is neat.

Our snack today was Ritz Bitz Cheese Crackers from Aidan. Thank you. Our snack on Thursday was Rice Krispie Treats from Noah. Thank you.

We did not have an Art Project today because of the field trip, so we had a very long time to play. Some of our grown ups even stayed and played with us. We think field trip days are awesome!

Let's Go Fishing

We like coming back to school after the weekend.  It sure was rainy, wasn't it?  When we first came in we played with some toys including the clothespins and those special Popsicle sticks.  Then we got to do our table top easels and a couple of other things.  Mrs. Myers had a candle in a candlestick.  She put it on the floor and taught us the Nursery Rhyme, "Jack Be Nimble".  We got to jump over the candlestick just like Jack.  Then we did other things like run around the candlestick.  Mrs. Whiteman made some Homemade Silly Putty and we each got to play with that.  It was kind of goopy, but it was fun.

Our story was "Barney's Favorite Mother Goose Rhymes".  It was full of fun Nursery Rhymes to learn like:  Little Bo Peep, Pat-A-Cake, Little Boy Blue, Humpty Dumpty and lots of others.  We liked hearing them.

Today was Birthday Day!  It's our favorite snack day because we get to make our own snack.  First we each got some little stick pretzels, some Goldfish and either some peanut butter or cheese spread.  Then we had to go fishing.  How do you do that?  Well, you stick one of your pretzels into the peanut butter or cheese and then you 'catch' a Goldfish.  Some of those fish were fast, but we caught and ate all of them.  We also sang "Happy Birthday" to our birthday friends for this month and then everyone got a brownie.  We love Birthday Day.

Art today was two things in one.  We took a piece of chalk and dipped it in silver paint.  Then we drew all over some very dark blue paper.  We couldn't bring it home since it was still wet.  We will bring it next time.

Snow Day!

We did not have school on Tuesday.  It was very snowy, so the T/Th kids didn't come to preschool.  We are sorry that they missed such a fun day.

We were able to go to school today, though!  We had a lot of fun when we were in the Circle Time Room.  Mrs. Myers had out the tumbling mat and we did all sorts of tricks.  Then there were some cute bunny pictures set out.  We could color them in with special crayons.  Mrs. Whiteman brought out the cloud dough again.  This time we had some in a bowl with spoons and an Easter egg.  What?  We tried to bury our eggs or fill them up.  Cloud dough is neat.

Instead of one story today we had 13 stories.  We didn't read them all.  That would take too long.  Today was Show and Share and each of us could bring our favorite book.  It took a while to finish looking at all of them.  There was a Max and Ruby one, a Barbie one, a John Deere tractor one, one about Ferdinand the bull; we can't even remember all of them there were so many.

For snack we had Go-Gurts and pretzels.  Yum.  Thank you, Payton.  On Thursday, we had two snack helpers and they both had the same name!  We had Go-Gurts from Addisyn and oranges with cheese sticks from Addison.  Thank you, girls.  Our Art was kind of funny.  Have you ever painted with balloons?  Well, we did today.  Mrs. Myers had balloons that were all blown up.  We dipped them into our paint and then made a picture on aluminium foil.  That was cool.

Clouds in the Classroom

Oh yes.  I sure was snowing when we first got here.  We will have to watch the weather in the morning because we are supposed to get even more snow tonight.  Yippy!

We had some different things to play with when we first got to school.  On the tables were funny looking popsicle sticks.  They had little notches in them.  We could try and build things with these special sticks.  We also had clothespins.  We learned how to open and close them and we practiced by putting the clothespins on pieces of cardboard.

During our group time we could play on the obstacle course or we could play with clouds.  Mrs. Whiteman made this very cool stuff called "cloud dough".  We mushed it together with our hands and made a big cloud.  Then we crumpled it up and started over again.

Our story was called, "Where Is the Green Sheep?"  There were all sorts of sheep in this book, but where was the green sheep?

Our snack today was Goldfish crackers and yummy grapes.  Thank you, Lucie.  After we were all finished eating, it was play time!  We got to make a necklace in Art.  Some of us wore them home.  We had new coloring pages and a new look in our Reading area.

It's an Animal Parade

Today was Show and Share.  We could bring one stuffed animal to school.  We got to play with them in the Circle Time Room.  We also got to play forts.  When you play forts at preschool it means that you get to crawl under a table that is covered with some blankets.  The blankets hang way down so that it is dark under there.  We each had a little flashlight and we used them under the table.  Sometimes we saw things like animals.  Playing forts is awfully fun.

"Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" is a rhyming book.  There are lots of colors in this book, too.  When the author asks, "Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?:"  Brown bear answers, "I see a red bird looking at me."  Then red bird sees a different colored animal.  What were some of the colors?

Our snack was from Evie and it was a very good one.  We each got a cup of applesauce and some Teddy Grahams.  Yummy.  Thank you, Evie.  We had two helpers in the classroom today.  Aidan's aunt was here and so was Wyatt's mommy.  Thank you, helpers.  Thursday's snack was applesauce, too!  Yum.  Thank you, Dawson.

Our art was coloring with pastels.  We could make any kind of picture that we wanted to make.  Some of us traced our hands.  Some of us drew people.  Our art was totally dry, so guess what?  We got to take it home today!  Yeah.

Jolie is Great

We have something very special to talk about today.  You will have to wait for it just a minute though.

We were so happy to see each other.  Today we played with the puzzles and the table top easels.  Mrs. Myers also had the musical instruments out for us to use.  She turned on the music and we marched in a circle on numbers all while we were playing our instruments.  When the music stopped, Mrs. Myers asked us which number was under our feet.

Now it was time for our special visitor.  There was a very nice lady and she had a very nice dog with her named 'Jolie'.  Jolie is a therapy dog.  She goes into hospitals and lets sick people pet her.  She even had to go to school and get a special paper that says that she can do this.  Jolie was very pretty and very polite.  She let us pet her.  Her handler brought a book all about Jolie and she read it to us.  Then she gave us each a copy with some coloring pages.  Wow.  That was really nice.

Our snack today was from Leah.  It was carrots and apples.  Yum.  Thank you, Leah.  On Tuesday our snack was animal crackers and strawberries.  We love strawberries.  Thank you, Kadence.  Right after snack it was time for free play and art.  We got to squirt paint onto paper and then we folded the paper over and rubbed.  When we opened the paper there was a beautiful design.  We saw all sorts of shapes in the paint.

Mice Are Nice

Today's story was funny.  It was called, "Splat the Cat".  It is Splat's first day of Cat School and he is a little scared to go by himself, so he takes his pet mouse, Seymour to school with him in his lunchbox.  At Cat School, Splat learns that cats are amazing and that they chase mice.  What?  When Splat opens his lunchbox, who jumps out?  What do the other cats do?  Uh-oh.  The milk cupboard door is stuck, so they can't have their milk.  How does Seymour help?  Do cats still chase mice?  What a great story this was!

When we were playing in the Circle Time Room, we had some very fun things to do today.  We got to use our wavy balance beam.  It is bumpy and goes up and down.  It is hard to do, but it is fun.  Then we had these little bowl shaped things that are our stepping stones.  Mrs. Whiteman put them on top of a table and we hid little mice under them.  We also played with the cars and tracks.

Our snack helper today was Ryan.  We had grapes and crackers.  Thank you, Ryan.  We loved those grapes.  We also had Aidan's mommy come to school and help us again today.  Thank you.  On Thursday our snack helper was Riley.  We had little packs of Ritz Bitz crackers.  They were very good.  Thank you.

For our Art Project, we squirted some paint on a sheet of paper.  The paper had a drawing of a fish on it.  We got to have different colors.  Then, Mrs. Myers put some plastic on top of the paint.  We mushed the paint around all over and then Mrs. Myers lifted off the plastic.  It left very pretty colors and marks on our paper.  You know what?  It looked like Rainbow Fish!

Blow, Blow, Blow

Today was very cold.  Yesterday was very warm.  Then it got snowy and now it is super cold again.  We are ready for some warmer weather so that we can go outside to play.

Today we had some cool things in the Circle Time Room.  We had a few brown trays.  Mrs. Whiteman squirted some shaving cream on them for us and we had fun playing with that.  Then we got to play with our blow fish.  We have these special plastic fish that can blow air when you squeeze them.  Mrs. Myers put some pompoms on the floor and we used the fish to blow those pompoms all over the place.  We also got to use the little chalkboards.

Our story today was such a good one.  It was called, "The Rainbow Fish".  Rainbow Fish had the shiniest, prettiest scales in the whole ocean.  Everyone admired him.  One day another fish asked if he could have one of his beautiful scales.  What did Rainbow Fish tell him?  Was Rainbow Fish a happy fish after that?  What did the octopus tell him he should do?

Our snack today was from Parker.  We had cheese and bread sticks.  Yummy.  Thank you, Parker.  After we were all finished we played.  Mrs. Myers had a small art project for us to do.  We took different shapes and glued them onto a big piece of paper.  We could glue them anywhere we wanted.  It was fun.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

We were very excited because it was the day of our Valentine Party.  We have been distributing our Valentines all week.  Do you remember that we made Valentine Bags the other day at Art?  Well, that is where we put the Valentines.

Because there was a party today we did things a little bit differently.  We played with a few toys and did some games when we first came to school.  Then, the doorbell started ringing and the parents started coming to help get our party ready.

We did have time for a story.  It was a book on tape called, "I Love It When You Smile".  In our story there was a mommy kangaroo and her little child, Roo.  Roo woke up and was very grumpy.  His mommy tried to get him to smile, but he refused.  She tried all sorts of funny tricks, but Roo still wouldn't smile.  Finally, mommy took him down the hill to get breakfast.  Roo didn't want to go, but his mommy said she was hungry.  They went hopping down the hill.  What do you think happened?  Did Roo ever smile?

After our story and songs, we usually go to the benches to wash our hands.  Not today.  Because of the party, we went over to the Play Room and played for a while.  More parents came and they started getting things ready for our party.  Then it was time to wash our hands.  When we came back into the Play Room for snack, there were pretty tablecloths on our snack tables.  We had Valentine plates and napkins.  Then we ate some frosted cookies and pretzels with our juice.  We just love parties.  For our Thursday party we had some very yummy cookies with red frosting and sprinkles.  We also had juice.

After we were all finished with our snacks, we went over to the Circle Time Room to play party games.  We had a Valentine Bingo game, a Valentine Bean Bag game and a Valentine Ball game.  For the last one, we tried to throw little plastic balls through a big Valentine heart.  These games were so much fun.  We also got to decorate some Valentines.  We had stickers and fun foam.

At our Thursday party we had some very fun things to do.  We played a Valentine Bean Bag game.  We tried to throw our bean bags through some holes in a big wooden Valentine.  We stacked large Conversation Hearts into towers.  We played Valentine Bingo and we got Valentine Tattoos.  Parties are our favorite!

At the very end of our party, we each got to get our Valentine Bags.  We will take them home and look at all of our Valentines.

Thank you to all of the parents who came to help make our party so special.  We appreciate all of your hard work.  Happy Valentine's Day!

What A Windy Day!

Oh my goodness.  It was so windy today we thought that we would blow over when we were coming into school.  When we got here we washed our hands and went straight into the Circle Room to look at the rocks and play with some toys.  After everyone was here, we played with the Tangrams, the table top easels and a super fun game called "Jump the River".  That is the game where there are two ropes on the ground and they get further and further apart.  We have to try and jump over the river without falling into it.

Our story today was called, "What Do You Love?"  In this story there was a family of dogs.  They all asked each other, "What do you love?"  They answered things like piggyback rides, mud pies, and Mommy's cuddles.  What do you love?

It was Birthday Day!  We got to make our own snack.  We each had two parts of a graham cracker and some frosting.  Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Myers taught us how to use little plastic knives to spread the frosting onto our graham crackers.  We had to work hard to do it, but it was very yummy.  After our regular snack was finished, we got to sing 'Happy Birthday' to our birthday people.  They blew out a candle and then we all had a little part of a brownie.  Yum.  Guess what?  No one took the snack bucket home because next time is our Valentine Party.

For our Art today we made bingo dauber hearts.  We had some paint in a special holder.  We pressed one end onto our paper and it left a circle of paint!  We did that all over our hearts.  They look very pretty.

Our next day of school is our party.  We can hardly wait.

Winter Sports Day

Just a reminder that our Valentines need to come to school by Monday (Green) and Tuesday (Yellow).

We have some new things at our viewing table.  We have a lot of small rocks.  It is fun to try and pick them up with the giant tweezers.  We drop them a lot of the time.  Some of the rocks are really pretty.

Today was Winter Sports Day.  We did Table Top Ice Skating.  We didn't skate on the tables.  That would be silly.  Mrs. Whiteman rolled up towels all around the table and we took round ice cubes and pushed them all over.  The table got really wet.

We also ice skated.  What?  Not with real skates, of course.  We each had two pieces of waxed paper and we stood on the pieces.  Then we skated around all over the room with our special indoor 'ice skates'.

Have you ever drawn with ice?  Well, we got to do that today.  We took regular ice cubes and drew all over our papers with them.  But, what happened to our drawings?

Our story today was called, "Mamma, Do You Love Me?".  This book is about the Inuit people who live in Alaska.  The drawings and the words were all from the way that they live.  Some of them we didn't know, but Mrs. Whiteman told us what they were.  There was an Inuit mommy and child.  The child asked, "Mama, do you love me?"  And the mommy replied, "Yes I do."  Then the child asked her, "How much?"  And the mommy gave her all sorts of answers like "More than the whale loves his spout."  Then the little child said things like "What if I put salmon in your parka?"  The mommy said that she would be angry, but she would still love her little child.  It was pretty funny and interesting to learn new words.

Our snack was from Jordyn.  It was cheese and crackers.  Yum.  Thank you, Jordyn.  And thank you to Aidan's mommy for coming to help us again today.  On Thursday we had a great snack from Carter.  He brought cheese cubes and grapes.  Yum.  Thank you, Carter.  We also got to have Kadence's mommy help us today.  Thank you!

We got to use paint at the Art Table.  We dipped some heart shaped cookie cutters into the paint and the we pressed the shapes onto our paper.  Some of us sure do have a lot of hearts!

We Played with Snow!

We don't have a whole lot of snow on the ground, but we got to play with some today.  Mrs. Whiteman brought in some tubs of snow from outside.  We put some on trays and then we got to make things like a little snowman and snowballs.  We had spoons to use and it was pretty cool.

We also had a fun game that was called Musical Hoops.  Mrs. Myers put some hula hoops on the ground.  She played some music and we walked around all of the hoops.  When the music stopped, we had to find a hoop and stand in it.  After each time, Mrs. Myers took away a hoop.  What do you think happened when there was only one hoop left?

We also had a pretty neat thing to do at another table.  There were great big, smiley mouths that showed a lot of teeth.  These were on paper with a very special surface on top.  We could color in the teeth and then we could wipe off the color.  Did you know that there are red and green teeth?  There were some in our class today.

Our story was called, "I Love You So Much!".  There was a little critter in the story and her name was Lola.  She had some very special words to say.but she couldn't seem to find a time to say them.  Daddy was leaving for work, Mommy was too busy, the school bus was too noisy; there just wasn't a good time for Lola to say her special words.  She got cranky.  Was Lola ever able to say her special words?  What were they?

Our snack helper today was Reese.  She brought goldfish crackers and Go-Gurts.  Thank you, Reese.  On Tuesday, we had animal crackers and bananas.  Thank you, Hudson. Today at the Art Table we made our very special Valentine bags.  We will use them for our Valentines during our party next week.

We want to thank Aidan's mommy for coming into our classroom and helping today.  We really love having you here.  Thank you.

It's Snowing!

It was snowing outside when we got to school today.  It hasn't snowed for a while.  We were very excited.  I wonder if it will snow a lot so that we can play in it later?  Guess what?  On Thursday, it wasn't snowing anymore.  Oh well. Maybe we will get some more so that we can go sledding with our families.

We played a very fun game today.  It was called, "Duck, Duck, Goose".  Everyone sits in a circle and someone is the leader.  They walk around the circle behind the kids and touch heads saying, "Duck", "Duck", "Duck".  All of a sudden, they will yell "Goose".  The goose has to jump up and chase the leader while the leader runs back and sits in the goose's place.  Then the goose is the leader and we start all over again.  It was fun to run in a circle.  We also played with the little Magna Doodles.

Our story was called, "I Love You Because You're You".  There was a mommy fox and a little kid fox in the story.  The mommy fox just kept saying "I love you when..."  and then she told her little fox all of the times that she loved him.  She loved him when he was all warm and cuddly; when he was cranky; when he was brave.  In fact, she loved him all of the time.

Our snack today was from Mason.  We had strawberry applesauce and cheese sticks.  Thank you, Mason.  On Thursday we had a very yummy snack from Gavin.  It was grapes and goldfish pretzels.  Thank you, Gavin.  Right after we were finished we got to play with the new ball toy.  It looks like a giant water slide.  We rolled marbles down the slide.  We had a lot of fun with that.

Our Art today was finger painting.  Woo hoo!  Getting messy makes us happy.  We had a special person come to play with us today.  It was Maxwell's mommy.  Thank you.

The Wheels on the Bus

We came back to school after our nice weekend and it was a lot warmer.  Everything is very wet outside and we had to stay indoors.

We played with the blocks today.  Mrs. Myers had us all help to build a big, tall skyscraper.  We all worked together.  It was hard, but we did it.  We also played with Snow Dough.  What is that?  It is a lot like Play Doh only it is white.  We had googly eyes and pipe cleaners.  Guess what we made with it?  We made snowmen.  We also played with the little Magna Doodles.

Our story was called "The Wheels on the Bus".  It was kind of neat because it had sounds that went with the story.  When the wheels went round and round, there was a button to push and we could hear the wheels.  There were buttons for the wipers, the kids going up and down and one more thing.  What was that?  We reviewed some of our old songs today.  That is fun trying to remember them.

Our snack was from Maddie.  We had applesauce and cheese sticks.  Mmmm.  Thank you, Maddie.  On Tuesday we had blueberries and pretzels for snack.  Thank you, Evelyn.  After we had everything cleaned up from snack we played in the main room.  Our Art today was so cool.  We each had a big box with handles in it.  There was a piece of paper inside of the box.  Then we each got a couple of marbles.  Mrs. Myers squirted some paint onto our paper and guess what we were supposed to do?  We had to roll those marbles through the paint.  We shook our boxes like crazy trying to get those marbles to roll.  You have to tilt them every which way and sometimes the marbles get stuck in the paint.  A couple of times the marbles popped right out of the boxes, but we got them.  That was fun.

Tuesday brought something new to the main play room.  There was a ball track that we got to use.  The Kindergarten Readiness class is studying about balls and they have this very cool track set up.  It sort of looks like a neat water slide.  We took some marbles and rolled them down the track.  There was a big line for that toy!

Our Grown Ups Were Here!

Today was a special day at preschool.  It was Bring A Grown Up to School Day.  Nearly everyone in our classes brought a grown up to school with them.  There were moms, dads, grandparents; just all sorts of grown ups.  We did our whole day like we normally would and the grown ups followed along.  They learned our rules very quickly and were pretty good at hand washing.

We played some games when we were in the Circle Time Room.  We played a Balloon Memory Game and we did some punching balls.  Those look like balloons with a long rubber band on one end.  You put your hand in the rubber band and hold it tight.  Then you punch the balloon ball.  Punch, punch, punch.  Mrs. Myers played some music for us while we punched.

We have a special box at school called the Song Box.  Inside are big cards that have the words to different songs written on them.  We pulled a few songs out of the box today and sang them with our grown ups.  After we did that, it was time to wash our hands and go to snack!  We had to use the Art Table because there were so many of us today.  Logan brought us fruit cups.  Thank you, Logan.  On Thursday Landon brought us bananas and CheezIts!  Thank you, Landon.  There were also graham crackers here for the grown ups.

Our story today was called "Where Do Balloons Go?".  A little boy accidentally loses his balloon and he starts to wonder where they go when that happens.  Do they hit buildings or planes?  Do they go into the clouds?  Are they happy to be free?

We got to do some art with our grown ups today.  We colored in a pair of shoes and then we got to make a person with very special markers.  But we didn't make the person on paper.  We made it on a balloon!  Then we stuck the balloon to the shoes and you had a balloon person.

We had a wonderful time with our grown ups today.  Thank you for coming to school with us.

Playing with the Bean Bags

Today was a little different because Mrs. Whiteman had to leave for a while.  Mrs. Lehenbauer came in to play with us.  We got to pop the bubbles in bubble wrap and use the little Magna Doodles.  We also played bean bag games with Mrs. Myers.

After we had cleaned all of that up, we went over to sit on the rug for our attendance.  Mrs. Lehenbauer doesn't really know how we do things, so she got to learn.  We played a fun game called "Animal Action" where you get to act like the animals in the song.  We just love that.

Our story today was actually two stories.  One was called "We Listen" and it was all about where you have to listen while you are at school.  We listen to the teacher and to a story and to our friends.  The other book was called "We Are a Team".  We are a team of friends here at preschool, that's for sure.  Mrs. Whiteman got these books at the library.

Our snack today was raisin bread and apples.  It was yummy.  Thank you, Luca.  Right after we were finished we did our art and it was painting pictures with brushes and brightly colored paints.  Painting is one of our favorite things to do.

Mrs. Whiteman made it back to school so she was here to help us get ready to leave.  We are so glad that she made it back because we sure did miss her.

Pajama Day Rocks!

The next day of school (Wednesday, January 23) for the Green Group is Bring a Grown Up to School Day.  Each child may bring a special grown up to school for the day.

We wore our pajamas to school today. And guess what? So did our teachers. It was fun to come to school in our pajamas. Mrs. Christiansen asked us if we were supposed to wear them or did we just get up too late? That was funny.

After we played with some games and looked at the shells we had some other things to do. The tumbling mat was out and that is our favorite. Then there were the little Magna Doodles and a covered table. What? That's right. There were blankets on one of the tables and we crawled under and used flashlights. There were some special magnets stuck underneath. It was fun to use the flashlights in the 'cave'.

Our songs were "Teddy Bear", "The Finger Band", "Have a Cup of Tea", and "Here's a Turtle".  Our story was called "The Napping House".  Inside the napping house was a granny asleep on the bed.  There was also a child.  And a dog.  And a cat.  There were other things taking a nap, too.  What were they?  What happened when the flea bit the mouse?

Our snack today was graham crackers from Lucy.  Thank you.  When we went to the art table today we got to paint with something that you usually don't use for painting.  It was marshmallows.  That's right.  We dipped some big marshmallows into paint and painted with them.  When we were all finished we got to go over to a different table and eat a clean marshmallow.  Yum.

Happy Birthday!

It was so cold today that Mrs. Lehenbauer kept the door closed and opened it for us as we came into school.  We are glad she did that because that meant that it stayed very warm inside.  When we got into the Circle Time room, we looked at some seashells and played with a few games.  Then after a bit we played with the little Magna Doodles and some very cool cars with a race track.  We also got to see how to use some little ball toys.  There was a cup attached to a handle and then there was a ball attached on a string.  We had to try a get the ball into the cup without using our other hand.  It was hard to do.

Our songs today were "Teddy Bear", "The Finger Band", "Have a Cup of Tea" and "Here's a Turtle".  Our story was called "I Love You, Blue Kangaroo".  Lily had a little stuffed animal named Blue Kangaroo.  She loved him very much.  Then she got a few more stuffed animals; Wild Brown Bear, Yellow Cotton Rabbit, Furry Puppies and there were even some others.  She told all of the animals that she loved them and Blue Kangaroo got very worried.  When they were all in bed one night, something happened.  Where did Blue Kangaroo go?  Who came back and got him?

Today was Cooking Day and Birthday Day!  Yeah.  We made a tortilla roll ups.  We had a piece of cheese and a tortilla.  We put the cheese on the tortilla and rolled it up to make a tube.  Then we ate it.  After we were finished with that it was time to celebrate our January birthdays with a song and a special brownie.  We like Birthday Day.

Our Art Project was very cool and if you come to visit us at school, you will get to see it.  We are going to put it on the wall by the benches.  It is a mural made with lots of different paint colors.  We used roller brushes, paint brushes and fly swatters to do our painting.  The mural is very beautiful.

The next day that we come to Preschool is Pajama Day.  We get to wear our pajamas to school.  I wonder if the teachers will wear theirs?

Yeah! We Finally Got to Do It!

Hooray.  We were finally able to do our Christmas Program today.  The Yellow Group had missed doing their show because we had a snow day on the last day of school before Christmas.  So today was our Program and Cookie Party.  The parents and grandparents came and we all drank lots of juice and ate cookies.  We sang and rang bells and had a wonderful time.  Thank you for coming to see us!

Playing Garbage

Yellow Group Parents:  Just a quick reminder that the make-up Christmas Program for your class is tomorrow, January 10 at 10:30 a.m.  We hope that you can make it!

We are all getting very good at taking our coats and hats off and putting them on our hooks.  Then when it is time to go home we almost all know how to put our coats on fast!  Some of us even know how to zip and button.  We must be growing up.

After we played with some toys and looked at our seashells, we did the little Magna Doodles.  Then we did something so fun that you won't even believe it.  We played a game called Garbage.  Isn't that a funny name?  There was a long line of tape on the floor of our room.  Some of us stood on one side of the tape and the rest of us stood on the other side.  Then there was 'garbage' which was really a whole lot of balloons.  We had to kick the 'garbage' to the other side of the tape and try to keep it off of our side.  Oh my goodness that was so much fun.  Have you ever tried to kick a balloon?

We had a fire alarm today.  We remembered to line up quickly and go outside with our teachers.  After the fire alarm it was time to get ready for snack, so we washed our hands, remembered to use our walking feet and went to the snack tables.  We had apple slices, caramel dip and cheese.  Wow, was that yummy.  Thank you, Robert.

Our songs today were "10 Little Germs", "Teddy Bear", "The Finger Band" and "Have a Cup of Tea".  Our story was called "Germs Are Not for Sharing".  What do you do when you sneeze?  What do you do when you cough?  What do you do when you drop a piece of food on the floor?  This book taught us how to keep away from germs.

We loved Art today.  We put on smocks and then we got to paint at the table with paint brushes and really pretty colors of paint.  It was so much fun.

We did something really funny after we came in from our fire alarm.  Mrs. Whiteman grabbed some snow and packed it into a little snowball.  Then we each held it and passed it around.  Guess what happened?  It got smaller and smaller and smaller.  Then, all of a sudden it was gone!  What happened to it?

We Have Been Gone for a Long Time

Welcome back to Preschool.  We have been gone for a very long time.  We had two holidays during our vacation; Christmas and New Year's Day.  We all had fun while we were home, but we were very happy to get back to school to see our teachers and our friends.

Today when we came in to school we got to look at sea shells with the magnifying glasses.  They are really cool when they look big like that.  You can see all of the lines and swirls.  Later we played Hopscotch with Mrs. Myers and we did the little Magna Doodles with Mrs. Whiteman.  They are a lot smaller than a regular Magna Doodle, but you can still make lines and shapes.

Our songs today were "Teddy Bear", "The Finger Band", and "Have a Cup of Tea".  These are all new songs to us and we had fun learning them.  We especially like the "Teddy Bear" song.

Our story today was called "I Went Walking".  It was a rhyming book about a little boy who went for a walk.  What did he see?  He saw a black cat, a brown horse, a red cow and so many other things that we cannot remember it all.

For snack we had graham crackers.  Thank you, Wyatt.  On Tuesday, our snack was goldfish crackers from Noah.  Thank you.  After we were finished eating we could play.  At the art table today we got little strips of paper and we practiced cutting them into tiny pieces.  Some of us are very good at cutting.  Some of us have trouble remembering which way to hold the scissors.  We will figure it out.

We want to thank Hudson's mommy for coming in to help us last Thursday.  It was wonderful that you could help!
