Merry Christmas to All!

We had a mixed up day today because it was a very special time here at preschool.  It was Christmas Program day!

Our singing went really well.  We want to thank all of the moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas and other grown ups who came to hear us.  We did our very best!

After the Program we had a cookie party.  There were lots of different kinds of cookies and there was punch, too.  There was coffee for the big people.  We all told each other Merry Christmas and then we got to go home.  Thank you for coming.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Red and Green are Christmas Colors

Remember that our Christmas Programs are this week.  The Green Group has their Program on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.  The Yellow Group's Program is on Thursday at the same time.  We can't wait to sing for you!

Hi!  It is our last week before Christmas Break and we are getting very excited.  We practiced again for our Christmas Program and our teachers said that we did a very good job.  In fact, the next time that we come to school it will be the day of our Program.  Yippee!  You will love it.

We played with the buttons and tweezers and some other toys when we first got to school.  Then we cleaned those up and did something a little different.  We had our story!  We usually do our story later in our day, but we wanted a long time for practicing so we had it early.  Our story was called, "Clifford's Christmas".  It was all about Clifford the Big Red Dog and how he celebrates Christmas with his family and friends.  First of all, he went to a parade.  Then he tried to play ice hockey, but something happened.  Then he tried to pick out a Christmas tree for his family, but that didn't work because it was ...  What happened when Santa came to Clifford's house?

After our story we played with some red and green balloons.  That made us laugh.  We were a little noisy, but that's okay because playing with balloons is noisy work!  We also had play-doh and the table top easels.

Our snack person today was Olivia and she brought grapes and go-gurts.  What a hit those things were!  Thank you, Olivia.  On Tuesday we had graham crackers and go-gurts.  Yummy in our tummy.  We love go-gurts!  Thank you, Addison.

We made some very pretty red, green and white necklaces today.  We got to wear them home.  We want to thank Robert and Leah's mommy for coming to play with us today.  Thank you.

We Had Show and Share!

Today was exciting because we had Show and Share.  We could bring in an unbreakable ornament to show our friends at school.  There were so many pretty ornaments to see.  Thanks everyone for sharing.

Another super fantastic thing that happened was something that you will never, ever guess.  There was something on the floor in the Circle Time Room and it had lots of colors on it.  It was a parachute!  What?  Yes.  We each got to hold onto the handles and we made the parachute go up and down.  We loved that!  We also played with the table top easels.

We practiced for our program again today and we did a very good job.  We know that all of you will love it.

Our story was called, "Merry Christmas from Biscuit".  It was all about a little girl and her dog named Biscuit.  The girl took lots of pictures of Biscuit doing different Christmas things like decorating the tree.  What else did Biscuit do?

For our snack today we had cheese sticks and graham crackers from Hayden.  Thank you.  On Thursday we had applesauce.  Thank you, Dawson!  Then we went over to work on our super secret art project again.  Oops.  That is all that we can say here.

We Are Practicing

We played with some buttons again today, but guess what was in them?  There were some Christmas pompoms.  They were fun to try and pick up with our great big tweezers.  After we cleaned all of that up we played with the table top easels and learned a new game.  It was called, "Duck, Duck, Goose".  First we all held hands and stretched out to make a big circle.  Then we sat down.  One person went around the circle behind us and tapped our heads and said, "Duck, duck, duck, duck."  Then all of a sudden they tapped a head and yelled out, "Goose."  The tapper person had to run around the circle while the Goose person chased him or her.  We laughed so hard at that funny game.

We aren't going to tell you what songs we sang today.  Do you know why?  Because they are the songs for our Christmas Program next week and we want them all to be a surprise.  We practiced very hard.

Our story was a funny one called, "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies".  A mouse went to the movies with his boy.  The boy got some popcorn to share and you wouldn't believe what the mouse wanted to do after that.  Those kinds of stories are silly.

Today was our Cooking Day and we made a very special sandwich.  First, we cut out our bread in a cool Christmas shape like a star.  Then we spread on some butter and some jelly.  Yummy.  After that we went to do our Art.  We can't talk about that either.  We can't even tell you what it was for because it is a super secret.

What Happens When You Add That Stinky Stuff?

We did some very interesting activities this morning.  We played with a few toys and used the tweezers with buttons right when we first got here.  Then we got to play a very cool game called "Jump the River".  It is fun and easy.  There are two ropes on the floor.  They are very close together.  Everyone gets a turn to 'jump the river'.  Then Mrs. Meyers fixes the ropes so that they are further apart, then further, then further, then furthest of all!  Oh my goodness.  We had to run and jump to try and cross that river.  Some of us still got our feet wet, but we sure had fun.

Another thing that was way cool was a science experiment that we did with Mrs. Whiteman.  We had little black trays with some white powder (called baking soda) in them.  Then there was some really stinky stuff called vinegar.  Yucky.  We used some little eye droppers and sucked up the vinegar.  Then we squeezed the dropper and out came the vinegar onto the baking soda.  Guess what happened?  The baking soda got all fizzy.  It was really neat and you could even hear the bubbles.  We did it over and over again.

Our songs today were "This Little Light of Mine" and "5 Little Angels".  We heard a story called, "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell".  My goodness.  You would not believe all of the things that old lady swallowed besides a bell.  There were bows and presents and all sorts of things.  I wonder what else happened in the story?

Our snack today was cheese and crackers.  Thank you, Aidan.  On Thursday our snack was from Kadence and it was strawberries and chicky crackers.  We love strawberries.  Thank you, Kadence.  We also had a helper.  Thank you, Max's mom.

At Art today we did a resist.  Ha ha.  That is a big word but it just means that we painted over white crayon on white paper.  When we painted, a star and the first letter of our name showed up on the paper.  That was awesome.

What is That White Stuff Called?

We did something new right when we came into school today.  After we took off our coats and things, we sat on the bench with Mrs. Whiteman.  Why did we do that?  Well, she wanted to show us the new soap dispensers in the bathrooms.  They are really neat.  We just stick our hand under one and the foamy soap comes right out onto our hand.  Way cool!  Then we rub our hands together and rinse.  That's it.  We think they are very easy to use.  On Tuesday we didn't have to do this because we all remembered about the new soap!

When we got into the Circle Time Room, there were some toys and buttons to use with the tweezers.  Then we did the tumbling mat.  We like trying out new tricks.  At another table there was this really thick white stuff on a tray.  It was called shaving cream.  We took some popsicle sticks and drew in the shaving cream.  That was fun.

Our songs today were "This Little Light of Mine" and "5 Little Angels".  Our story was super-d-duper.  It was called "Llama, Llama Holiday Drama".  There was a character named Llama Llama.  Mama Llama had a lot to do to get ready for Christmas.  Llama Llama got tired very quickly.  What else happened in our story?

Payton brought us a snack of apple slices and goldfish.  Yum.  Thank you.  On Tuesday, Riley brought us a great snack of cheese crackers and string cheese.  Thank you.

For our art project today we made a snowflake.  There was a snowflake shape taped to some blue paper.  We took some white paint and dabbed it all over the top and around the snowflake, then off it came!  We can't wait to see what it looks like when it is dry.  What shape will the paint make?

What is That Crazy Machine?

We came into preschool today and after we washed our hands we went into the Circle Time Room.  Some of us sat on the floor and played with toys like plastic bugs and puzzles.  Some of the rest of us played with the buttons on the table.  When we came into school on Thursday, we had to take off our things and sit on the benches.  Why?  Well, we had something new that we had to learn about.  We have new soap dispensers.  We can just put our hand under the dispenser and out comes the foamy soap.  So this is what we do:  1.  Put our hand under the dispenser.  2.  Rub the soap all over our hands to clean them.  3.  Turn on the water.  4.  Rinse off our hands.  5.  Dry them with a paper towel.  It was fun to try the new machine.

After all of that it was time to play in little groups.  Some of us played with a machine.  It blew out air.  It was a little vacuum cleaner!  We couldn't believe it.  There were plastic pipes that Mrs. Meyers attached to one end.  We put a cotton ball into the pipe and guess what happened when she turned on the vacuum cleaner?  It blew the cotton ball up into the air.  The cotton ball even almost touched the ceiling.  We also played a marble game.  We had lots of marbles in hoola hoops.

Our songs today were "5 Little Monkeys", "Inky Dinky Doo" and "The More We Get Together".  We had a super good story, too.  It was called "The Mitten".  It was all about a boy named Nicki.  His grandmother knitted him a pair of white mittens.  She was worried that he would lose one in the snow and he did.  A mole found his mitten and went inside.  Then a snowshoe rabbit went inside of it, too.  A lot of different animals kept trying to fit inside Nicki's mitten.  What happened next?

We had a super snack today.  Yummy in our tummies.  We had little plain and raisin bagels and cream cheese.  We loved it.  Thank you, Lucie.  Then after our snack was all gone, we went over to the Art Table.  We put red, green and gold paint on a yellow piece of paper.  Then we folded the paper over and pressed down.  It made a cool design on both halves.  On Thursday we had a snack of cheese sticks and granola bars from Parker.  Thank you!  We also had Maxwell's mommy here to play with us today.  Thank you!

Pop the Bubbles

We came back to school today.  Yeah.  We miss being here and playing with our friends.  We got to look at a lot of buttons when we first arrived.  There were a lot of different shapes and colors.  We even used the magnifying glasses.  Then we played on the obstacle course and drew pictures on the table top easels.  Mrs. Whiteman also had a whole bunch of bubble wrap that she had taped to a table.  We got to pop the bubbles!  On Tuesday, our bubble wrap was red!

We had a very cool story called "The Mine-O-Saur".  It was all about some dinosaurs at school.  One little dinosaur had a very hard time sharing and the others called him the Mine-O-Saur.  First he took away all the toys and yelled, "Mine!  Mine!  Mine!"  Then he took some other things from the children and yelled, "Mine!  Mine!  Mine!"  What happened to the Mine-O-Saur?

Our songs today were "5 Little Monkeys" and "Inky Dinky Doo".  After we washed our hands we had a snack of little pretzel sticks and cheese.  Thank you, Evie.  On Tuesday our snack was cheese sticks and yummy grapes.  Thank you, Carter.  We also had Landon's Daddy help today.  Thank you.  Then we went and played.  For our Art today we colored with oil pastels.  They got on our hands, but we wiped them off with wipes.  The colors were very pretty.

Thanksgiving's Coming!

Today we were a little excited because we only have one day of school this week.  Why?  Because it is Thanksgiving!  Some of us will eat a lot of turkey and pie.  Some of us will have special people come to our house.  Some of us will go visit our relatives.  This is going to be fun.

When we came into school today we left on our coats.  What?  Yes, we went right outside and played in our play yard.  We just love the sand and those big trucks.  They are so much fun.  On Tuesday, we stayed inside and played when we first arrived because the Kindergarten Readiness kids were already outside.  We played Musical Hugs and Leaf Fishing.  In Musical Hugs we got to walk around a circle of hula hoops.  When the music stopped, Mrs. Meyers would have us get inside the hoops.  Each time she would take a hoop away until there was only one left.  There is one way to fit a bunch of preschoolers inside a hoop.  You all have to hug!

Mrs. Whiteman had a bag of little leaves and she shook them over a table for us.  Then we took our magnets and cleaned up all of the leaves.  They stuck to the magnets because there was a paper clip on the leaves.  That made us laugh.

When we got back inside we had a story called "Who Will Carve the Turkey this Thanksgiving?".  It asked all sorts of crazy questions like "Will a shark carve the turkey?"  or "Will a dinosaur carve the turkey?"  I wonder who really will carve that turkey?  We had the same story on Tuesday!

Our songs were "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush", "I Had a Little Turtle", "Mr. Turkey Went for a Walk" and "The More We Get Together".  We are having a lot of fun with our songs.  Sometimes we sing different ones while we are waiting to wash our hands or go home and those are fun, too.

Our snack was yogurt covered raisins.  Yum.  Thank you, Leah.  We had a special helper. It was Reese's mommy. Thank you!  After we were all finished we went to the Art Table and there was cinnamon playdough for us to use.  It smelled so good.  We made a turkey with the playdough and some colored popsicle sticks.  We even got to take our turkeys home.  Yeah!  For Tuesday's snack there were yummy granola bars from Hudson.  Thank you.

After we were all done with our playdough turkeys on Tuesday, Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Whiteman decided it was so nice outside that we should go out and play.  We love that!  Then it was time to go home.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Who Is in That Picture?

Today when we got to school, we were very excited.  We had something to give to our teachers.  Most of us brought in a picture of ourselves with our families.  It was Show and Share Day.  We talked about who was in the picture.  Some of us were little babies when our pictures were taken with the rest of our family.  It was fun to see all of the pictures.  Mrs. Whiteman said that she is going to save them for our classroom.  I wonder what she will do with them.

After we shared our pictures it was time to play a little bit.  Mrs. Meyers had the tumbling mat out and we liked it so much there was a line clear out of the door to take turns.  We sure do like that mat.  We also played with the table top easels.

Our story was called "Thank You, Thanksgiving".  In the story was a little girl.  She went to the corner store to get something for Thanksgiving for her mommy.  On the way to the store she said, "Thank you." to everything.  "Thank you, rabbits."  "Thank you, hill."  What else did she thank on her way to the store and back?

We made turkey feathers today.  Actually, we put dots on a coffee filter with special dot paint.  Then Mrs. Meyers squirted the filters with water and the colors all ran together.  They will make the feathers for our turkeys.  It was sure noisy in our room while we were making the dots.

Ryan brought our snack today.  We had very yummy grapes and some cookies to share.  Thank you, Ryan.  On Thursday we had bananas and animal crackers from Gavin.  Thank you, Gavin.

Turn the Handle

When we got to school today we noticed that there were some Hot Wheels cars and tracks set up for us to use.  That was fun.  The track started at the table and went down to the floor so our cars did a big jump!  We enjoyed that.  We also played with the table top easels and a grocery store memory game.  Some of us tried to move pretty macaroni noodles from one container to another using those big tweezers.  It was fun to try and pick them up.  I wonder if we would be able to use chopsticks now?

We sang some new songs today.  They were called "I Had a Little Turkey", "Mr. Turkey Went for a Walk One Day", " The More We Get Together", and "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush".  We love learning new songs.

Our story was really funny and the pictures just cracked us up.  It was called "How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?".  Do they slurp?  Do they use their toes?  Do they stomp on their food?  Do they blow bubbles?  How do YOU think they eat?

While we were waiting to wash our hands, we sang the "Roly Poly Pumpkin" song only we changed the pumpkin into a turkey.  That was funny.  Then we went in to eat our snack.  We got to do something pretty neat for that.  We had some apples and they weren't even cut up.  Then there was a very strange looking tool on each table.  It was called an apple peeler.  The teachers stuck them to the tables and then they put an apple onto one end.  When you turned the handle, the apple was peeled and the middle was pushed out.  You could see through the middle of the apple when it was finished.  What?  We each got to turn the handle a few times.  We thought that was fun.  We had a helper on Tuesday.  Kadence's mommy came and played with us.  Thank you.

We have a new center that the Kindergarten Readiness class is getting set up.  It is called Grocery Store.  There are lots of boxes and containers of food and even some grocery carts and a cash register.  We had a lot of fun playing there.

For Art today we used vegetables.  That's right.  We thought that it would be weird, but it was pretty cool.  We had some carrots, potatoes and a big thing of celery.  Mrs. Meyers cut them all in half.  The we dipped them into paint and pressed them on our papers.  Whoa.

HyVee is a Grocery Store

We had a field trip today.  Most of us came to school with a grown up and the grown ups stayed!  Why did they stay at school?  Well, today was our trip to HyVee.  HyVee is a grocery store.  We have all been there with our parents, but we got to see things that we have never seen before.

The first thing that we got to do was go back in the back room where they store the groceries.  Our tour guide, Kristin, showed us back behind the swinging doors.  Then we went to see the lobsters in the water tank.  They are so cool because they are alive.  They moved all around while we were watching them.  We also got to see all of the meat in the meat case.  Did you know that there are great big fish in there?  They are dead, but you can buy them and cook them and eat them.

We also got to go to the bakery.  We even went behind the counter and saw where the big mixing machines and ovens were.  There was a cookie decorator there and guess what?  We got to see a cookie being decorated.  And it was for us!

After we saw the bakery we went over by the deli and we saw all of the cheeses that they sell.  We got a piece of cheese to eat.  Yum.  Then we got a fortune cookie too.  We love the grocery store.

On Thursday we saw most of the same things that the other class got to see, except we did some extra stuff.  We got to go into the dairy cooler.  Brrr.  It was cold in there.  We also got to go into the big semi truck!  What?  Yes.  That was so neat.  Did you know that those trucks bring food to the HyVee stores?  Sometimes they use a special motorized cart called a pallet mover to move all of the food around.  Guess what?  We got to beep the horn of the pallet mover!  Now that was fun.

When we got back to school it was time to hang up our coats and get ready for snack.  Jordan brought applesauce for us.  Thank you, Jordan.  On Thursday we brought our cookies back to school and enjoyed cookies and string cheese for our snack.  Thank you, Evelyn.  We also got to eat the great big, decorated cookie that HyVee made for us.  A lot of the parents stayed and watched us play.  Then it was time to go home.  We will see you next week.

Pick a Bean

We're back!  Today at school some of us had our eyes tested.  We went to a special room with Mrs. Lehenbauer and a man took pictures of just our eyes.  We had to look into a camera with a special light.  Then there was a big flash and ta dah!  We had pictures of our eyes.  After we were finished, we got a lion sticker.  That is because the Lion's Club did this for us.  Thank you.

When we got to school, we did something pretty fun.  There were tubs of beans and great big things called tweezers.  We had to try and pick up the beans with the tweezers and put them into cups.  It was hard at first, but we did it.  We also played with bean bags to the music, played Feed the Little Old Lady Card game and did the table top easels.

Today we learned some new songs.  They were called "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush", "The More We Get Together", "Mr. Turkey Went for a Walk" and "I Had a Little Turkey".  Whew.  We like learning new songs.

Our story was a really good one.  It was called "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie".  This little old lady could eat a lot of Thanksgiving dinner, that's for sure.  She kept eating and eating.  Just when you thought she couldn't eat any more, she ate some more until finally she ...

After a yummy snack of grapes and crackers from Reese, it was play time.  On Tuesday we had bananas from Landon.  Thank you, Landon.  Yeah.  For our art projects today we did plastic wrap paintings.  It isn't too hard.  First you squirt some paint onto the paper.  Then you lay the plastic wrap on top of the paint and squish it all around the paper.  Oh wow!

New Things in the Play Yard

We had a very nice change in our day.  At the very end, we went into the hall and got our coats.  Then we went into the Circle Time room and we put on our coats and gloves.  But we weren't going home.  Nope.  We were going out to the play yard to play.  There are new easels, chalkboards, mulch, trucks, stepping stones, a sand table and picnic tables.  We had so much fun.  Then when we got back inside, we were ready to go home.

At the start of our day we played with the tabletop easels, the picture and language cards and balloons.  Balloons are way fun to try and keep up in the air.  Whew.  We sure did get tired.  After all of that moving around, we took a break and had our story.  It was called "Feast for 10".  This story was all about a family going to the grocery store.  It was a counting book, too.  First we counted things in the story up to 10 and then we counted more things again.

We learned a new song today.  It was called "I Had a Little Turtle".  We have fun learning new songs.  Our favorite one now is all about a little peanut on a railroad track.  Along comes a choo choo train and ...

After we washed our hands, we went into the play room and had a great snack of apples, animal crackers and juice.  Thank you, Luca.  At the art table we took red, orange and yellow chalk and got it wet.  Then we drew things on a piece of paper.  It will be a bit before that dries, so we will bring it home another day.

Halloween is Here!

Parents:  We passed around the sign up sheet for conferences at the Halloween Party.  If you were not here and would like to schedule a conference please call the school.  Thank you.

We had a mixed up day today because of our very cool Halloween Party.  We didn't have a chance to look at anything, but we played with some little toys as soon as we came into school.  We also got to play with some balloons and that was really fun.

After we did our circle time we had our story.  It was called "Where's Your Mummy?"  It was all about a little mummy who got lost from his mommy.  He looked everywhere for her and asked a lot of scary creatures where she was.  But he never got scared until he asked a ...  Did he find his mommy?

We lined up to go into the other room and then we got to play.  That was very different because of our special day.  Usually we eat snack first.  After playtime, we did wash our hands and then it was time for our Halloween Party to begin!  First we had cookies and juice.  Yum.  Then we all got together in the Block Center and had a group picture taken.  We had princesses, a horse, Spiderman and lots of other really good costumes.

We went back over to the circle room for special games.  We played with the parachute, did Halloween Bingo, got tattoos and played Ghost Bean Bags. Hooray for Halloween.

It's Time for a Party!

Parents:  We passed around the conference sign up sheet at the party today.  If you were unable to attend, please call the school to schedule a time for the November 6th conferences.

Our day was a little upside down today because it was a special day.  We came in and saw a lot of little pumpkins that Mrs. Whiteman had grown in her garden.  There were also two really big pumpkins that were cut open.  We could see all of the seeds and the stringy stuff inside.  Yuck.

We had a special story called "Where's Your Mummy?".  It was all about a mummy who lost his mommy.  He went searching for her everywhere.  He ran into all sorts of terrifying Halloween things, but he never got scared until he ran into a...  Did he find his mommy?

Our songs were "Leaves are Falling", "It is Fall", "Grey Squirrel", "I'm an Acorn" and "5 Little Pumpkins".  After a short playtime it was time for our special day.

We had a Halloween Party!  Hip hip hooray.  A lot of us came to school with our costumes on, but some of us waited until party time.  We had a giant pumpkin, a ninja turtle, batman and so many other characters that we couldn't keep track of them all.  The parents came in and they had a snack of cookies and juice all ready for us.  Then we went back into the Circle Room and played games.  We got to play with the parachute and we thought that was funny.  There was a Halloween Memory Game and a Ghost Bean Bag Game.  We each got a little treat bag too.  We love Halloween.

And a Pumpkin for All

Mrs. Whiteman brought all of us a big surprise today.  She brought pumpkins from her garden and told us that we could each have one.  They are very small, but we love them.  Thank you, Mrs. Whiteman.

We got to go outside because the sun was shining today.  Yeah.  We had new mulch on the ground and a great big chalkboard.  The chalkboard can fit a whole bunch of kids.  There was frost on the picnic tables and the teachers wrote our names in it.

Besides the little pumpkins, we had two great big pumpkins that Mrs. Whiteman brought to school.  We got to look inside them and see all of the seeds and goopy stuff.  Yuck.

Our songs today were "Leaves are Falling", "It is Fall", "Grey Squirrel", "I'm an Acorn", and "5 Little Pumpkins".  Our story was "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything".  It was all about a little old lady who took a walk in the woods.  She saw a pair of shoes and said, "I'm not afraid of you!"  She saw a lot of other things and finally had to run home.  What happened at the end of the story?

Our snack person today was Mason.  He brought us applesauce and crackers.  Yum.  Thank you, Mason.  We also had a helper in class and that was Reese's mommy.  Thank you.

During playtime, we had a very special art activity.  We dipped chalk into water and used it on our papers.  We had yellow, orange and red chalk.  Those are the fall colors.

I Had a Hammer

Did you know that Fall is here?  Even though the weather has been very warm it is time for fall.  We have noticed the leaves changing, the pumpkins are here and Halloween is coming very soon.  Today we looked at many different kinds of leaves at the viewing table.  They are so pretty right now.  We also played on the obstacle course with the balance beam and tunnel, we did a leaf counting activity and we used the table top easels.

Our story today was called "Fall is Here-Counting 1-10".  It was a book filled with Fall things to count like one pumpkin, two leaves.  We like counting books.  On Thursday we read the story "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything".  It was all about an old lady who went for a walk and met some scary things on her way. She met two shoes that said, "Clomp, clomp."  She met a pair of pants that said, "Wiggle, wiggle."  What else did she meet?

Our songs were "5 Little Pumpkins", "Grey Squirrel", "I'm an Acorn", "Leaves Are Falling" and "It is Fall and It's Time to Rake the Leaves".  After we sang our songs it was time to wash our hands and get ready for snack.  Today we had cheese sticks and graham crackers.  Thank you, Maddie.  We also want to thank Aidan's mom who came to help today.  Thank you.  On Thursday we had a snack of grapes and graham crackers.  Thank you, Braden.  Also, Braden's mom came to help us today.  Thank you.

We got to use hammers at the art table today.  What?  We put some leaves and a rose under some paper and then we pounded and pounded.  Some of the colors came off onto our paper.  That was pretty neat.  Pound, pound, pound.

Monday, October 22, 2012

Ohhh. It's Storming.

Right before we all got to school today there was a little thunderstorm and we couldn't wait to tell our teachers.  There was heavy rain and some thunder.  Ohhh.  It was loud.  We made it into the school with the help of the giant umbrella.  On Tuesday, it wasn't raining when we go to school, but it was so yucky outside that we had to stay in and play.

At the table today were lots of different kinds of leaves.  We talked about them and we looked at them through our magnifying glasses.  Then after we took attendance, we played with Play Doh, the tabletop easels and the musical instruments.  We got to march around a circle to some music with the instruments and that was fun.  Miss Lauren came to help us again today.  Thank you, Miss Lauren.

Our story was "I Am a Leaf" and it is a Big Book with really great pictures.  It told us all about how leaves grow on trees.  First they start as a baby leaf, then they get bigger and bigger and then in the autumn they change color.  Do you know what happens to leaves in the winter?  Do you know how leaves help a tree to get water?  We do.

We had a very yummy snack of pumpkin bread.  Thank you, Logan.  On Tuesday, our snack was cheese sticks and Teddy Grahams.  Thank you, Max.  For art we took some leaves that were made out of construction paper and we taped them down to a big piece of paper.  Then we took some sponges and dipped them into paint.  We sponged over the leaf and when we were all finished, Mrs. Whiteman took the leaf off of the paper and you will never guess what we saw.  There was a leaf shape still on the paper from all of the paint.  Cool.

Leaves Are Falling

We read a story about "Leaves, Leaves, Leaves" today.  We learned that some leaves turn yellow, some turn orange and some turn red in the fall.  Did you know that some leaves even stay green?  What makes the leaves fall to the ground?  What do we do with those leaves?

When we got to school, it was warm and sunny so we played outside.  We had the hoops, balls, Play Doh and big trucks.  Those trucks sure do work hard outside.  Our songs were "5 Little Pumpkins", "Leaves Are Falling", "Grey Squirrel", "It Is Fall", "It's Time to Rake the Leaves" and "I'm a Nut".  We are learning so many songs.
We had a special helper again today.  Her name was Lauren and she is Mrs. Lehenbauer's little girl.  She is a big girl now.  Thank you, Lauren.  We had granola bars for snack.  Thank you, Lucy.  On Thursday we had grapes.  Thank you, Julian.  We went to play and there were some new things in the Writing Center and the Sensory Table.  We made blotto paintings at art.  First you put red, gold and yellow paint on a piece of brown paper and then you fold it in half and press it down.  When you open it up, it is very cool and all mixed together.

We forgot to thank our other helpers this week.  On Monday, Wyatt's mommy came and on Tuesday, Kadence's mommy came.  Thank you for helping with our classes.  On Thursday Max's mom came to help us.  Thank you.

We Are Corny

Today we did some fun things that were all about corn.  We looked at ears of corn at our viewing table.  They are pretty neat and have lots of little kernels on them.  Along with all of the ears of corn, there were pumpkins and a dragonfly.  We also got to do tumbling on our mat, the table top easels and a water and sponge activity.  On Tuesday we were able to get outside.  We played with the Play Doh, trucks, hoops, balls, and outdoor blocks.

Our songs today were "5 Little Pumpkins", "Leaves are Falling", "Grey Squirrel",  and "I'm a Nut".  We had a very good story with some great pictures.  It was called "Time to Harvest".  Harvest means to pick foods.  There were pictures of harvesting corn, grapes, potatoes, tomatoes; all sorts of things.  We sure did learn a lot.

Our snack was funny.  Since it was cooking day we had a popcorn popper and popcorn.  Mrs. Whiteman put oil in the popper and then she added some popcorn and put a big round lid over the top.  You could see through the lid.  When she plugged in the machine, we could hear the oil sizzle and then all of a sudden we could see the popcorn popping.  It made us laugh so hard.  We had some pretzels too.

When it was time to do art we got to do something cool with an ear of corn.  We painted with it.  Now how do you do that?

Little Critters

Mrs. Whiteman grew some very small pumpkins in her garden this year and she brought some to school so that we could look at them.  Something very strange has happened to them.  There are little bites on the small pumpkins.  The silly squirrels at her house have nibbled at those pumpkins.  It was funny to see the bite marks.  We also got to look at seeds with our magnifying glasses.  Mrs. Myers brought in a beautiful dragonfly for us to see.  It was dead, but is was very cool.  We could see through his wings!

After we put away the seeds and checked to see who was here today, we played with the stepping stones, the table top easels and we played scarecrow color bingo.  Our story was "Count".  It is a book with very pretty and bright pictures.  In it there are the numbers up to 10 and some funny animals that we got to count.

Our songs today were "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel", "Way Up High in the Apple Tree" and "5 Little Pumpkins".  After we washed our hands we went into the play room and had a snack of crackers and cheese sticks.  Yum.  Thank you, Noah.

We had another special helper today.  Evelyn's mommy came and helped with our art.  Thank you.  We painted a big, long piece of paper with orange paint and then we added some pumpkins to it.  It is called a mural and the teachers will put it on the wall for everyone to see.

Fire Drill on Picture Day?

Today it was the Green Group's turn for Picture Day.  We sure do like Jerry the photographer.  He is really funny and silly.  We all got our individual pictures taken and then we came inside to take our group picture with all of the kids and the teachers.  You will not believe what happened when we were cleaning up to take the picture.  All of a sudden we heard a loud noise and the teachers told us to start lining up by the outside door.  We didn't know what the noise was, but we did what we were told.  We walked across the parking lot with all of the teachers and stood under our tree.  Guess what that noise was?  It was a fire alarm!  It wasn't supposed to go off today, but it did.  Our teachers all said that we did a really good job of lining up and going outside.

We got to look at the seeds again today.  Mrs. Whiteman also brought in pumpkins from her garden.  Some of them had little bites in them from small animals.  Was it a chipmunk?  Was it a squirrel?  We don't know, but something tried to eat them.  After we saw the seeds and pumpkins we played with the stepping stones, the tabletop easels and we got to play scarecrow color bingo.  Our songs were "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel", "Way Up High in the Apple Tree" and "5 Little Pumpkins".

Our story was called "Count".  The pictures were really pretty and colorful.  We counted up to 10.  We can all do that.  Snack today was the very last thing that we did because of our exciting day.  We had bananas and granola.  Thank you, Robert.  We also had a special helper all day.  Aidan's mom came to school!  Thank you.

Smile for the Camera!

Picture Day was today!  We had a lot of fun with that.  First of all we had to meet our photographer.  His name was Jerry.  He was very silly.  After we met him, Mrs. Lehenbauer took us into the picture bus where there were all sorts of cool toys and things for taking the pictures.  We got to laugh a lot because Jerry was so funny.  After we all had our individual pictures taken, we took a picture of all the kids and teachers together.

When we first came in today we had lots and lots of seeds to look at through the magnifying glasses.  We opened up those milkweed pods again and blew them all around.  Then we got to play with the balloons, the tabletop easels, and the tesselation blocks.

We read the story "Busy Squirrels" and we learned all about those little guys.  Do you know how they keep warm?  Do you know what they eat and where they live?  We do.  Our songs were "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel", "Way Up High in the Apple Tree" and "5 Little Pumpkins".

At the Art Table we got to do something we haven't done yet.  We got to make our own necklaces.  We took pieces of orange cord and put beads on the cord.  The beads looked like candy corn colors; orange, yellow and white.  It was a little hard to do, but it was fun.  We got to wear our necklaces home.

We had bananas for snack.  We love those.  Thank you, Addisyn.

Squirrels Today

Don't forget that we have pictures on Tuesday (Yellow Group) and Wednesday (Green Group).

We talked a lot about squirrels today.  We even read a very cool story called, "Busy Squirrels".  There were real pictures of squirrels doing things like eating, drinking and keeping warm.  Ask me questions about squirrels and I bet that I can answer them.  We even got to see a real squirrel feeder that another little girl had brought to school.  It held an ear of corn.  Do you think that squirrels eat corn?

When we got to school today we looked at all types of seeds.  Mrs. Whiteman opened a milkweed pod again and we got to try and keep the seeds in the air by blowing on them.  That is just a lot of fun, but it can sure make you tired from all of that blowing.

After we took attendance, we played with balloons, did our tabletop easels and played with the tessalation blocks.  It was too cold this morning to go outside, so we just had fun in our room.  Our songs today were "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel", "Way Up High in the Apple Tree", and "5 Little Pumpkins".

We had a really good snack from Wyatt.  It was granola bars and cashews.  We liked that a lot.  Thank you, Wyatt.  After we were all finished we got to do something really different for art.  Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Myers had a big, long piece of paper taped to the table.  We painted it orange and then we took a big cookie cutter pumpkin and dipped that in paint.  We pressed the pumpkin onto the painted paper.  It looked really neat.  It is called a mural and we think that it will be hung up where lots of people can see it.

Today we had a special helper.  It was Robert's and Leah's mom.  Thank you for playing with us.

After Our Field Trip

Picture day is Tuesday, October 9th (Yellow Group) and Wednesday, October 10th (Green Group).

We had such a wonderful time at the farm the other day that we didn't know if we could ever have such a good time at school.  Guess what.  We did today.

Mrs. Whiteman had some milk pods and she broke one open for us.  Oh my goodness.  There were seeds and they had these white feathery parts attached to them.  We blew on the seeds and they flew up into the air.  We tried really hard to keep them up.  We laughed and laughed because we all looked so funny blowing in the air.

We went outside to the play yard and you won't believe what we found there.  We have new tables and blocks.  The big trucks from the block center were outside for us to use, too.  We just couldn't believe it.  Not only that, but we had playdoh which is one of our favorites.  We got to stay outside for a bit longer because the weather was so nice.  Hip hip hooray for outdoor play.

For our story today we read another Big Book and it was called, "Growing Pumpkins".  We learned all about how pumpkins grow from a teeny, tiny seed.  They were just like the pumpkins that Farmer Gene had at the Pumpkin Patch.  We sang "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel", and "Way Up High in the Apple Tree".

Our snack was apples and cheese sticks.  Yum.  Thank you, Addison.  We had a special helper today.  Max's mom came in and played with us.  Thank you.  For our art project, we cut up little pieces of orange paper, put them in a baggie and made a face on the baggie.  Then Mrs. Meyers helped us tie it up.  Guess what it made?

Hooray for the Pumpkin Patch!

Today was the most fun day ever.  We had a great day at the Pumpkin Patch!  We met Farmer Gene who gave us a tour of his farm.  First, we fed the sheep and the goat.  Then we watched Farmer Gene feed Mitch, the horse.

Next, we saw the geese and the chickens.  The geese honked so loudly at us - some of us covered our ears!  We got to go through a hay maze and a corn maze.  Mrs. Whiteman was the last one out!  Thank goodness we didn't lose anyone.

Next we saw how pumpkins grew.  Bunnyville was a favorite for everyone.  We tried very hard to pet the soft rabbits.  We ended our day with Dawson's snack.

Thanks to all of the adults who came along.  It was a perfect field trip!

We Are So Excited

Guess what?  We are going to the pumpkin patch.  That's right.  Tomorrow the Yellow Group will go and the next day the Green Group will go.  We are so excited that we can hardly stand it.

Today we read a book called "Growing Pumpkins".  It was another one of those big books.  It told us all about how pumpkins grow.  They start as a little tiny seed.  Did you know that?  Then they start to grow and grow and soon there is a flower.  What does that flower become?

Our outside activities today were painting with water on cardboard, hammers, the obstacle course, the nerf balls and the collecting buckets.  Those buckets are really fun because you can put all sorts of things in them like leaves, acorns, and sticks.

When we first came into school today, we got to look at many different types of seeds.  One of the seed pods had a special surprise inside.  What was it?

Our songs today were "I'm an Acorn", "Grey Squirrel" and "5 Little Pumpkins".  After we sang we got ready for our great snack of yogurt.  Thank you, Leah.  Then for art we made pumpkins.  Yup.  We cut orange paper into little pieces and put them in a bag.  We tied the bag closed and then we drew a face on it.  Now that's a funny pumpkin.

Apples and Seeds

Guess what?  We are going to start looking at all sorts of seeds now.  We had a bunch at our viewing table and we even had magnifying glasses.  It is a little hard to learn how to use those, but we are trying.  We were able to go outside and we painted with water on cardboard, used the ribbons, scarves and hoops and we even found an earwig!  Hurray.

Our story was huge!  At least, the book was really big.  Those are called 'big book's'.  We can see the pictures a lot better on those.  Today our 'big book' was called, "An Apple a Day".  It was all about apples.  Did you know that there are 3 colors of apples?  Did you know that they grow on trees from a flower?  How do we pick apples?  Oh my goodness.  There are so many things to learn about apples.

We sang some songs today right after our story.  We sang "I'm an Acorn", "Way Up High in the Apple Tree", and "Leaves Are Falling".  For snack we had our very own goldfish packets.  Thank you, Aidan.  On Tuesday, our snack was crackers and cheese.  The cheese was shaped like Mickey Mouse.  Thank you, Kadence.

Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Meyers reminded us to bring in our permission slips for the Pumpkin Patch.  We go next week.  That will be so much fun.  We can't wait.

Bye Bye Bugs

OUR OPEN HOUSE IS TONIGHT (9/25)!  IT IS FROM 5:30-6:30 PM.  WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU!

Happy Monday everyone.  We had a very busy day.  It is the last part of our time with bugs and today we got to see a spider at the viewing table.  We will still keep our eyes open for bugs outside though.  We not only had a very cool spider, but we got to play with the table top easels, Playdoh, and the crawling tunnels. Now those are pretty neat.  On Tuesday we were able to go outside because it was a lot warmer.  Yippee.  We played with the scarves, the ribbons, the collecting buckets, nerf balls and hoops.  We had a lot of fun pretending that the hoops were steering wheels.  There were fire engines, trucks and police cars in the play yard.  We also painted with water on big pieces of cardboard.  Some of us found a couple of bugs.  They were called a roly poly and an earwig.

Our songs today were "Here's the Beehive", "Baby Bumblebee" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider".  We love singing. Sometimes we also get to do some songs right before we wash our hands.  After we wash, we head right into the big play room and go to the snack tables.  Today we had peanut butter crackers.  Yum.  Thank you, Jordyn.  On Tuesday we had a great snack of bananas and goldfish crackers.  Thank you, Riley.

For art today we did something that was easy and very different.  We took yellow chalk and dipped it into gold paint.  Then we drew pictures on a piece of black construction paper.  The paint comes off onto the paper with the chalk and it looks ever so shiny.

"The Very Greedy Bee" was our story today and it was a good one.  There was a bee and he wanted ALL of the nectar.  He wouldn't share with anyone, not even his bee friends.  One day he found a special group of flowers and decided that he wouldn't let anyone know about it so that he could have all of the nectar to himself.  Well, he got so full and so fat that something happened to him.  I wonder what it was?

Parents:  Remember that permission slips to the Pumpkin Patch went home last week and they are due very soon.  The newsletter/calendar, tuition envelopes and class lists went home today.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call.

It Was Bug Day!

Woohoo!  Today was Bug Day for Show and Share and we had some amazing bugs.  We had bug pictures, live bugs, dead bugs and even a bug in a necklace.  Wow.  We each got to show everyone our bugs.  It was so much fun.

We were able to go back outside today and we played with the buckets, the floaty scarves and ribbons, the nerf balls and we painted with water again.  We are always so glad when we get to go outside and play.  Since it has been chilly, we are trying very hard to put on our own jackets.  We have a magic way to do it.  Can you guess what it is?

Our songs today were "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Lady Bugs Fly", "Baby Bumblebee", and "Here Is the Beehive".  Our story was really funny.  It was called Silly Sally.  When we read the story, we had something new to do.  We had flannelboard pieces that went with the book.  Mrs. Whiteman read us the story and then she put the flannel pieces on a special board.  Guess what?  They stuck on the board all by themselves.

Our snack today from Lucie was bagels and cream cheese.  We were very quiet at snack because we were all eating.  Yum.  On Tuesday, our snack was apples and caramel dip.  Thank you, Parker.  After that we did a new art project and you won't believe what we got to do.  First we bent some pipe cleaners and stuck them on a piece of foil.  We crumpled the foil up around the pipecleaners.  Now, this is the best part, we got to stomp on the foil ball with our foot!  How cool is that?  No one lets us stomp like that.  What did this art project turn out to be?

Parents:  We have sent home the permission slips for the field trip to the Pumpkin Patch.  They are in your child's backpack.

Peeling Our Bananas

Hello.

We are glad to be back in school again.  We were very excited to play and go outside.  We did an obstacle course, water painting on cardboard and we played with our natural wood blocks.  When we got to school we had a worm and a roly poly bug to look at through our bug viewers.  On Tuesday the grass was very wet, so we played inside.  We got to do PlayDoh, easels and a very fun game called "Jump the River".  We also had a centipede in our bug viewer.  He has a lot of legs.

We got to sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Lady Bugs Fly", "Baby Bumblebee", and "Here is the Beehive".  After we washed our hands and went to the snack table we learned what we would be doing for Cooking Day.  We had to peel our own bananas!  Oh no.  Some of us were worried because we had never done that before.  But, Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Myers showed us how and guess what?  We could all do it.  Every single one of us!  Now we will be able to do it at home too.  And after we got them peeled, we were able to dip the bananas into sprinkles.  Yippee.    After our bananas were all gone we sang the "Happy Birthday Song".  Then we each had a brownie.  We are just going to love Cooking Day!

During Art today we made a spider web out of glitter and glue.  We used a popsicle stick to slide the glue around on our paper and then we got to sprinkle on some glitter.  We love glitter.

Our story was called "Step By Step".  It was about an ant who did some traveling to visit her friend.  They did some fun things and even had a very scary adventure.  What happened to them?  Hmmm.

Smack That Fly!

We had a lot of fun doing our art today.  We got to smack flyswatters in paint!  We pretended that there were flies on the paper and smack, smack smack.  The flyswatters left cool designs.

We got to go outside because the weather has been really nice.  We played with the collecting buckets, the wood blocks, and the balls.  Mrs. Whiteman brought out some big pieces of cardboard and we got to paint with water.  We loved that!  While we were outside, we caught a spider and an ant and we put them in some bug jars so that we could look at them.  There was a spider web and some very cool foil and pipe cleaner spiders that were in our tree.

On Tuesday, we still got to go outside, even though the weatherman said it would rain.  We were lucky because it didn't start raining until the very end of school.  We were able to use our hoops, the balls and the collecting buckets.  We also let the ant and the spider go today.  They belong outside in the grass.

We let the crickets go today.  They were happy to hop off and be in the grass.  We also got to see a butterfly that someone from the other class had brought to school.

Our story today was "Tumble Bumble".  It was a rhyming book with all sorts of animals who went for a walk.  The kept bumping into other animals.  They finally got to a house, but no one was home.  What did they do?

Our songs today were "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "2 Little Butterflies" and "Ladybugs Fly".  We had a wonderful snack of Rice Krispie Treats from Hayden.  Thank you.  On Tuesday, our snack was bananas and Rice Krispie Treats.  Thank you, Carter. We also got a birthday treat from Hudson.  Happy Birthday, Hudson.

In our backpacks today are our Ladybug Finger Painting projects from the other day.  We have art to take home.  Yeah.

Yarn Balls

Today we had fun going outside and enjoying the cooler weather.  We played with the musical instruments, the collecting buckets and yarn balls.  Yarn balls?  What do you do with those?  You make a spider web.  We also found a fairy house made out of acorns.  We watched our crickets and we set another grasshopper free.  He hopped under the fence and went away.  On Tuesday, we got to do all of these same things except that we had already let our grasshopper free the other day.

Our songs today were "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Two Little Butterflies", and "Ladybugs Fly".  Our story was a great one.  It was called "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".  That caterpillar was so hungry you wouldn't even believe what he ate.  He ate one ...

Today we had art for the first time.  We had a picture of a ladybug and some paint.  We got to put our finger in the paint and then we pressed that finger onto our ladybug paper.  Some of us didn't mind getting messy, some of us did.  That's okay.  We will all get messy someday.

Snack today was awesome.  We had carrots, Ranch dressing and cheese sticks.  Thank you, Evie.

Snack on Tuesday was so good we couldn't stand it.  We had cheese sticks and apple slices.  Think you, Hudson.

A Quick Get Away

Our second week of preschool is already over.  We have been having so much fun learning things that the time is just flying away from us.

Speaking of flying away, guess what happened today?  We let our grasshopper go and he flew!  And we got to see it.  We also caught a cricket.  We just love looking at our bugs.

Today's story was called "Ten Little Ladybugs" and it was fun to read.  We got to count backwards.  There were ten little ladybugs, but then something happened and there were only nine.  And then something else happened and there were only ...

We played outside again because it was pretty dry.  We got to do the obstacle course, balls, hoops and the collecting buckets.  Snack was animal crackers.  Thank you, Gavin.

Surprise! New Bugs

We had some new bugs in school today.  Of course, we had the crickets from Mrs. Whiteman, but we also had a grasshopper and a bee.  The grasshopper was silly and he kept climbing all over the bug house.  The bee was dead, but it was very cool to look through the magnifying glass and see it.  By the way, the crickets now have little apartments made out of tp rolls and they are eating carrots.  They have also started chirping!

We played outside again on Tuesday.  Yeah for the good weather.  We got to do the wrist ribbons, scarves, balls, hoops and collecting buckets.  We even found an ant and caught it to look at later.

For Wednesday, the rain came back and we had to play inside.  But it was super fun because we got to play with the musical instruments on the number mats.  We could even choose the instruments that we wanted to play.  We also did our tabletop easels and our all time favorite, Play Doh.

Our story today was called "The Very Lazy Ladybug".  She was so lazy that she slept all day and all night.  She didn't even know how to fly, so she did something else.  I wonder what she did?  Did she ever learn to fly?

Our songs today were "I'm a Little Teapot", "Skidamarink", "5 Little Ducks", and "Itsy Bitsy Spider".  We had a very yummy snack of graham cracker snacks and GoGurt on Tuesday.  Thank you, Evelyn.  On Wednesday we had graham crackers and grapes from Ryan.  Thank you, Ryan.

Butterfly, Butterfly

We are learning so much here at preschool.  We already know how to hang up our backpacks and go wash our hands.  That is a great start!

On Wednesday and Thursday, we went outside and played on the stepping stones in our play yard.  We also got to use the wood blocks and the wrist ribbons.  We are very glad that it was a good day to go outside and play because we got to see ants and spider webs.  They were cool.

Our book was called "Butterfly, Butterfly" and there were beautiful pictures that we got to see.  There was a girl in the story and her name was Lucy.  She found a butterfly.  Then she lost it.  She looked very hard for it and she found a lot of things, but did she find that butterfly?

We will sing our "Welcome Song" everyday.  We also did the "Freeze", "If You Are Happy and You Know It" and "This Little Light of Mine".  We are having fun learning these songs.

Our Wednesday snack was very good.  We had cheese sticks and granola bars.  Thank you, Jordyn.

For snack on Thursday, we had cheese sticks.  Thank you, Landon.

Our first week of preschool is already over.  Who can believe it!  We are having so much fun.

A Very Busy Day

Welcome to Redeemer Preschool.  We are so happy that all of you are joining us this year.  We had a marvelous first day.  Thank you to all of the parents who were kind enough to send in the supplies that we have requested.  We appreciate that.

Today's story was "The Very Busy Spider" by Eric Carle.  For some reason this spider was too busy to play with anyone.  I wonder why she was so busy?

Due to our very squishy playground area, we stayed inside on Monday.  We got to play on the multi-surfaced balance beam, we played with Play Doh and we used the table top easels.  These things are fun.  But, one of the coolest things was that Mrs. Whiteman brought in some live crickets.  They even had their very own house.

On Tuesday, our playground was a little more dried out, so we were able to do our bumpy balance beam, scarves, ribbons and wooden blocks outside.

While we were learning about our day, we also got to sing our 'Welcome Song', 'If You Are Happy and You Know It', and 'This Little Light of Mine'.  We are just starting to understand how things work here, so we did not do an Art activity yet.

For snack on Monday, we had cheese crackers and grapes.  Yum.  On Tuesday, we had oranges and CheezIts.  They made the room small really good.
