It's an Animal Parade

Today was Show and Share.  We could bring one stuffed animal to school.  We got to play with them in the Circle Time Room.  We also got to play forts.  When you play forts at preschool it means that you get to crawl under a table that is covered with some blankets.  The blankets hang way down so that it is dark under there.  We each had a little flashlight and we used them under the table.  Sometimes we saw things like animals.  Playing forts is awfully fun.

"Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" is a rhyming book.  There are lots of colors in this book, too.  When the author asks, "Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?:"  Brown bear answers, "I see a red bird looking at me."  Then red bird sees a different colored animal.  What were some of the colors?

Our snack was from Evie and it was a very good one.  We each got a cup of applesauce and some Teddy Grahams.  Yummy.  Thank you, Evie.  We had two helpers in the classroom today.  Aidan's aunt was here and so was Wyatt's mommy.  Thank you, helpers.  Thursday's snack was applesauce, too!  Yum.  Thank you, Dawson.

Our art was coloring with pastels.  We could make any kind of picture that we wanted to make.  Some of us traced our hands.  Some of us drew people.  Our art was totally dry, so guess what?  We got to take it home today!  Yeah.

Jolie is Great

We have something very special to talk about today.  You will have to wait for it just a minute though.

We were so happy to see each other.  Today we played with the puzzles and the table top easels.  Mrs. Myers also had the musical instruments out for us to use.  She turned on the music and we marched in a circle on numbers all while we were playing our instruments.  When the music stopped, Mrs. Myers asked us which number was under our feet.

Now it was time for our special visitor.  There was a very nice lady and she had a very nice dog with her named 'Jolie'.  Jolie is a therapy dog.  She goes into hospitals and lets sick people pet her.  She even had to go to school and get a special paper that says that she can do this.  Jolie was very pretty and very polite.  She let us pet her.  Her handler brought a book all about Jolie and she read it to us.  Then she gave us each a copy with some coloring pages.  Wow.  That was really nice.

Our snack today was from Leah.  It was carrots and apples.  Yum.  Thank you, Leah.  On Tuesday our snack was animal crackers and strawberries.  We love strawberries.  Thank you, Kadence.  Right after snack it was time for free play and art.  We got to squirt paint onto paper and then we folded the paper over and rubbed.  When we opened the paper there was a beautiful design.  We saw all sorts of shapes in the paint.

Mice Are Nice

Today's story was funny.  It was called, "Splat the Cat".  It is Splat's first day of Cat School and he is a little scared to go by himself, so he takes his pet mouse, Seymour to school with him in his lunchbox.  At Cat School, Splat learns that cats are amazing and that they chase mice.  What?  When Splat opens his lunchbox, who jumps out?  What do the other cats do?  Uh-oh.  The milk cupboard door is stuck, so they can't have their milk.  How does Seymour help?  Do cats still chase mice?  What a great story this was!

When we were playing in the Circle Time Room, we had some very fun things to do today.  We got to use our wavy balance beam.  It is bumpy and goes up and down.  It is hard to do, but it is fun.  Then we had these little bowl shaped things that are our stepping stones.  Mrs. Whiteman put them on top of a table and we hid little mice under them.  We also played with the cars and tracks.

Our snack helper today was Ryan.  We had grapes and crackers.  Thank you, Ryan.  We loved those grapes.  We also had Aidan's mommy come to school and help us again today.  Thank you.  On Thursday our snack helper was Riley.  We had little packs of Ritz Bitz crackers.  They were very good.  Thank you.

For our Art Project, we squirted some paint on a sheet of paper.  The paper had a drawing of a fish on it.  We got to have different colors.  Then, Mrs. Myers put some plastic on top of the paint.  We mushed the paint around all over and then Mrs. Myers lifted off the plastic.  It left very pretty colors and marks on our paper.  You know what?  It looked like Rainbow Fish!

Blow, Blow, Blow

Today was very cold.  Yesterday was very warm.  Then it got snowy and now it is super cold again.  We are ready for some warmer weather so that we can go outside to play.

Today we had some cool things in the Circle Time Room.  We had a few brown trays.  Mrs. Whiteman squirted some shaving cream on them for us and we had fun playing with that.  Then we got to play with our blow fish.  We have these special plastic fish that can blow air when you squeeze them.  Mrs. Myers put some pompoms on the floor and we used the fish to blow those pompoms all over the place.  We also got to use the little chalkboards.

Our story today was such a good one.  It was called, "The Rainbow Fish".  Rainbow Fish had the shiniest, prettiest scales in the whole ocean.  Everyone admired him.  One day another fish asked if he could have one of his beautiful scales.  What did Rainbow Fish tell him?  Was Rainbow Fish a happy fish after that?  What did the octopus tell him he should do?

Our snack today was from Parker.  We had cheese and bread sticks.  Yummy.  Thank you, Parker.  After we were all finished we played.  Mrs. Myers had a small art project for us to do.  We took different shapes and glued them onto a big piece of paper.  We could glue them anywhere we wanted.  It was fun.

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

We were very excited because it was the day of our Valentine Party.  We have been distributing our Valentines all week.  Do you remember that we made Valentine Bags the other day at Art?  Well, that is where we put the Valentines.

Because there was a party today we did things a little bit differently.  We played with a few toys and did some games when we first came to school.  Then, the doorbell started ringing and the parents started coming to help get our party ready.

We did have time for a story.  It was a book on tape called, "I Love It When You Smile".  In our story there was a mommy kangaroo and her little child, Roo.  Roo woke up and was very grumpy.  His mommy tried to get him to smile, but he refused.  She tried all sorts of funny tricks, but Roo still wouldn't smile.  Finally, mommy took him down the hill to get breakfast.  Roo didn't want to go, but his mommy said she was hungry.  They went hopping down the hill.  What do you think happened?  Did Roo ever smile?

After our story and songs, we usually go to the benches to wash our hands.  Not today.  Because of the party, we went over to the Play Room and played for a while.  More parents came and they started getting things ready for our party.  Then it was time to wash our hands.  When we came back into the Play Room for snack, there were pretty tablecloths on our snack tables.  We had Valentine plates and napkins.  Then we ate some frosted cookies and pretzels with our juice.  We just love parties.  For our Thursday party we had some very yummy cookies with red frosting and sprinkles.  We also had juice.

After we were all finished with our snacks, we went over to the Circle Time Room to play party games.  We had a Valentine Bingo game, a Valentine Bean Bag game and a Valentine Ball game.  For the last one, we tried to throw little plastic balls through a big Valentine heart.  These games were so much fun.  We also got to decorate some Valentines.  We had stickers and fun foam.

At our Thursday party we had some very fun things to do.  We played a Valentine Bean Bag game.  We tried to throw our bean bags through some holes in a big wooden Valentine.  We stacked large Conversation Hearts into towers.  We played Valentine Bingo and we got Valentine Tattoos.  Parties are our favorite!

At the very end of our party, we each got to get our Valentine Bags.  We will take them home and look at all of our Valentines.

Thank you to all of the parents who came to help make our party so special.  We appreciate all of your hard work.  Happy Valentine's Day!

What A Windy Day!

Oh my goodness.  It was so windy today we thought that we would blow over when we were coming into school.  When we got here we washed our hands and went straight into the Circle Room to look at the rocks and play with some toys.  After everyone was here, we played with the Tangrams, the table top easels and a super fun game called "Jump the River".  That is the game where there are two ropes on the ground and they get further and further apart.  We have to try and jump over the river without falling into it.

Our story today was called, "What Do You Love?"  In this story there was a family of dogs.  They all asked each other, "What do you love?"  They answered things like piggyback rides, mud pies, and Mommy's cuddles.  What do you love?

It was Birthday Day!  We got to make our own snack.  We each had two parts of a graham cracker and some frosting.  Mrs. Whiteman and Mrs. Myers taught us how to use little plastic knives to spread the frosting onto our graham crackers.  We had to work hard to do it, but it was very yummy.  After our regular snack was finished, we got to sing 'Happy Birthday' to our birthday people.  They blew out a candle and then we all had a little part of a brownie.  Yum.  Guess what?  No one took the snack bucket home because next time is our Valentine Party.

For our Art today we made bingo dauber hearts.  We had some paint in a special holder.  We pressed one end onto our paper and it left a circle of paint!  We did that all over our hearts.  They look very pretty.

Our next day of school is our party.  We can hardly wait.

Winter Sports Day

Just a reminder that our Valentines need to come to school by Monday (Green) and Tuesday (Yellow).

We have some new things at our viewing table.  We have a lot of small rocks.  It is fun to try and pick them up with the giant tweezers.  We drop them a lot of the time.  Some of the rocks are really pretty.

Today was Winter Sports Day.  We did Table Top Ice Skating.  We didn't skate on the tables.  That would be silly.  Mrs. Whiteman rolled up towels all around the table and we took round ice cubes and pushed them all over.  The table got really wet.

We also ice skated.  What?  Not with real skates, of course.  We each had two pieces of waxed paper and we stood on the pieces.  Then we skated around all over the room with our special indoor 'ice skates'.

Have you ever drawn with ice?  Well, we got to do that today.  We took regular ice cubes and drew all over our papers with them.  But, what happened to our drawings?

Our story today was called, "Mamma, Do You Love Me?".  This book is about the Inuit people who live in Alaska.  The drawings and the words were all from the way that they live.  Some of them we didn't know, but Mrs. Whiteman told us what they were.  There was an Inuit mommy and child.  The child asked, "Mama, do you love me?"  And the mommy replied, "Yes I do."  Then the child asked her, "How much?"  And the mommy gave her all sorts of answers like "More than the whale loves his spout."  Then the little child said things like "What if I put salmon in your parka?"  The mommy said that she would be angry, but she would still love her little child.  It was pretty funny and interesting to learn new words.

Our snack was from Jordyn.  It was cheese and crackers.  Yum.  Thank you, Jordyn.  And thank you to Aidan's mommy for coming to help us again today.  On Thursday we had a great snack from Carter.  He brought cheese cubes and grapes.  Yum.  Thank you, Carter.  We also got to have Kadence's mommy help us today.  Thank you!

We got to use paint at the Art Table.  We dipped some heart shaped cookie cutters into the paint and the we pressed the shapes onto our paper.  Some of us sure do have a lot of hearts!

We Played with Snow!

We don't have a whole lot of snow on the ground, but we got to play with some today.  Mrs. Whiteman brought in some tubs of snow from outside.  We put some on trays and then we got to make things like a little snowman and snowballs.  We had spoons to use and it was pretty cool.

We also had a fun game that was called Musical Hoops.  Mrs. Myers put some hula hoops on the ground.  She played some music and we walked around all of the hoops.  When the music stopped, we had to find a hoop and stand in it.  After each time, Mrs. Myers took away a hoop.  What do you think happened when there was only one hoop left?

We also had a pretty neat thing to do at another table.  There were great big, smiley mouths that showed a lot of teeth.  These were on paper with a very special surface on top.  We could color in the teeth and then we could wipe off the color.  Did you know that there are red and green teeth?  There were some in our class today.

Our story was called, "I Love You So Much!".  There was a little critter in the story and her name was Lola.  She had some very special words to say.but she couldn't seem to find a time to say them.  Daddy was leaving for work, Mommy was too busy, the school bus was too noisy; there just wasn't a good time for Lola to say her special words.  She got cranky.  Was Lola ever able to say her special words?  What were they?

Our snack helper today was Reese.  She brought goldfish crackers and Go-Gurts.  Thank you, Reese.  On Tuesday, we had animal crackers and bananas.  Thank you, Hudson. Today at the Art Table we made our very special Valentine bags.  We will use them for our Valentines during our party next week.

We want to thank Aidan's mommy for coming into our classroom and helping today.  We really love having you here.  Thank you.
